The Social Welfare Society of Peshawar Medical College is a student run society aiming to provide assistance and support to the underprivileged community and deserving individuals. It’s an organized platform working on different aspects of welfare and thus is divided into its 5 major wings:
1) Patient Welfare Wing:
The most active wing of SWS, working towards providing funding for needy patients
for their lab investigations, X-rays and other scans, hospital stay, and surgery charges. A report of all funds collected and expenditure is made every month to analyze progress.
2) Blood Wing
Works with renowned welfare organizations to arrange blood donation camps and to arrange blood in in emergency for critical patients mainly in Mercy Teaching Hospital, Kuwait Teaching hospital and Prime Teaching Hospital.
3) Disaster Management Wing:
The aim of this wing is to provide long term and immediate assistance to the society in the wake of a disaster. It also organizes Iftaar and Food Packages drive in Ramadan and Winter clothes donation drive annually. In addition, The Gaza Medical Relief Campaign were also conducted to provide medical assistance to those in need in Gaza.
4) Health Education Wing:
Aims to spread awareness about health related issues by conducting online and in person seminars. Previously, awareness campaigns have been held for breast cancer, hypertension, dengue fever, Congo virus, polio and other issues like patient safety and mental health.
5) Media Wing:
Our social media platforms are meant to provide the public with information regarding different cases of patients, issues of the needy, progress of our society and upcoming events. And keeping in mind the reach of social media these days we aim to spread our word far and beyond to help humanity.
