"نِسوان کی ترقی کے بغیر، پاکستان کی حقیقی آزادی نامکمل ہے"
("Without Women's Progress, Pakistan's True Freedom Remains Incomplete")...................................................................
As Pakistan prepares to celebrate its 78th Independence Day on 14th August,
Zindagi Women Development Society calls upon the nation to recognize a fundamental truth: Pakistan's strength, prosperity, and true freedom are inextricably linked to the empowerment, rights, and development of its women.
Independence Day is not merely a celebration of past liberation; it is a solemn reminder of our **ongoing journey** towards building a just, equitable, and prosperous Pakistan. This journey cannot succeed while half our population faces barriers to education, economic participation, healthcare, safety, and equal representation.
Why Women's Development is Central to Pakistan's Independence:
1. Nation Builders:
Women are the backbone of families, communities, and the economy. Their contributions as educators, healthcare workers, entrepreneurs, farmers, and caregivers are the unseen threads weaving the fabric of our nation's resilience and progress.
2. Economic Engine:
Unleashing the full potential of women's economic participation is the single greatest catalyst for national growth, poverty reduction, and sustainable development. An empowered woman uplifts her entire family and community.
3. Agents of Peace & Stability:
Educated, empowered women are powerful forces for social harmony, tolerance, and peaceful communities – the bedrock of a strong Pakistan.
4. Realizing the Dream:
The vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for a progressive, democratic Pakistan requires the full and equal participation of women in all spheres of life. True freedom means freedom for *all* citizens.
Zindagi Women Development Society's Commitment:
On this Independence Day, Zindagi reaffirms its unwavering commitment to:
Breaking Barriers: Providing access to quality education and skills training for women and girls.
Building Economies: Supporting women entrepreneurs and ensuring economic independence.
Ensuring Safety & Rights: Advocating against gender-based violence and for women's legal rights and healthcare.
Amplifying Voices: Creating platforms for women's leadership and participation in decision-making.
A Call to Action:
We urge the government, civil society, the private sector, and every citizen to join us in making women's empowerment a national priority. Invest in girls' education. Create safe workplaces. Champion women leaders. Challenge discriminatory norms. Support organizations like Zindagi working on the frontlines.
"Our nation's independence will only reach its full meaning when every Pakistani woman is free to learn, earn, lead, and live with dignity and security. Let this 14th August be a renewed pledge towards that essential freedom."
