A seminar on “Dengue and Malaria Awareness, Prevention, and Control” was successfully organized by the Department of Zoology in collaboration with the Zoological Society of Women University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Bagh.
The seminar was organized under the supervision of Dr. Sadia Nazar, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology. The keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Umar Ayaz Aslam Sheikh, Assistant Professor, Department of Entomology, University of Poonch, Rawalakot.
Dr. Umar Ayaz Aslam Sheikh highlighted the increasing threat of vector-borne diseases such as dengue and malaria in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized the role of public awareness, preventive strategies, and research-based interventions to minimize the risks and improve community health.
Distinguished faculty members including Dr. Abul Hasan Faiz (Associate Professor & Chairman, Department of Zoology), Dr. Mohammad Shabaz Chttha (Associate Professor, Department of Zoology), Dr. Tufail Akbar, Dr. Nadia, and Dr. Rabia also attended the event. Their presence added great value and encouragement for the students and participants.
In particular, Dr. Tufail Akbar and Dr. Rabia actively participated in organizing the seminar and contributed significantly to its successful ex*****on.
The President and members of the Zoological Society of Women University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Bagh, also played a vital role in organizing the seminar and ensuring its success.
Faculty members, research scholars, and students actively participated in the seminar. The event concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, where students discussed practical measures for vector control in their local community.
The seminar not only enhanced scientific knowledge but also promoted the vision of linking academic research with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being).
