In Lodhran District, Doaba Foundation—supported by WaterAid—is empowering communities through climate-resilient and inclusive WASH systems that are owned, operated, and maintained by the people themselves. Where Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) once exceeded 3500, families now have access to clean, filtered drinking water thanks to solar-powered solutions and local stewardship. On 22 January 2026, Javed Iqbal, Manager Programs, paid a field visit to the project sites to observe community-led operations and engage with local teams. This initiative not only improves health and dignity, but also strengthens long-term resilience by placing control in the hands of communities who sustain and protect their own water sources.
ضلع لودھراں میں دوآبہ فاؤنڈیشن، واٹر ایڈ کی معاونت سے، کمیونٹیز کو بااختیار بنا رہی ہے تاکہ وہ موسمیاتی تبدیلیوں کے مطابق پائیدار اور جامع واش (پانی، صفائی اور حفظانِ صحت) نظام قائم کر سکیں۔ یہ نظام کمیونٹیز کی ملکیت ہے اور وہی اسے چلاتی، سنبھالتی اور برقرار رکھتی ہیں۔ جہاں پہلے پانی میں ٹی ڈی ایس (Total Dissolved Solids) کی سطح 3500 سے زیادہ تھی، وہاں اب خاندان صاف اور فلٹر شدہ پینے کے پانی تک رسائی حاصل کر رہے ہیں، جو سولر سسٹم اور مقامی شراکت داری کے ذریعے فراہم کیا جا رہا ہے۔
22 جنوری 2026 کو، جاوید اقبال، مینیجر پروگرامز، نے منصوبے کی سائٹس کا دورہ کیا تاکہ کمیونٹی کی قیادت میں چلنے والے آپریشنز کا مشاہدہ کریں اور مقامی ٹیموں سے ملاقات کریں۔ یہ منصوبہ نہ صرف صحت اور وقار کو بہتر بناتا ہے بلکہ طویل مدتی لچک کو بھی مضبوط کرتا ہے، کیونکہ پانی کے ذرائع کی حفاظت اور پائیداری کی ذمہ داری براہِ راست کمیونٹیز کے ہاتھ میں ہے۔

On January 22, 2026, Mst. Ume Farwa Hamdani, Divisional Director Social Welfare Multan, and Mr. Muhammad Iqbal, Focal Person of the Humanitarian Coordination Hub (HCH) Multan, visited the Doaba Foundation office in Jalalpur Pirwala. The district team, including Muhammad Bilal and Zulkifle Ashraf, warmly welcomed the guests and shared the purpose of the visit.
The visit aimed to understand & share the ongoing work of the Doaba Foundation and to explore opportunities for future collaboration to support communities affected by the 2025 flood crisis.
During the meeting, the Doaba Foundation team presented detailed updates on the Early Recovery Project currently being implemented in flood-affected areas. Supported by IOM, UNOCHA, FCDO, and with ACTED as a partner, the project focuses on key areas such as WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) interventions to improve health and cleanliness, livelihood restoration activities to help families rebuild their income sources, and community-based support initiatives to strengthen resilience at the local level.
The discussion also highlighted the achievements of the project, the challenges faced by communities, and the plans for future recovery efforts. Both sides stressed the importance of strong coordination between humanitarian organizations and government departments to ensure effective service delivery and long-term support for vulnerable populations.

میٹنگ کے دوران، دوآبہ فاؤنڈیشن کی ٹیم نے ابتدائی بحالی منصوبے کے بارے میں تفصیلی معلومات فراہم کیں جو اس وقت سیلاب سے متاثرہ علاقوں میں جاری ہے۔ یہ منصوبہ IOM، UNOCHA، FCDO کی معاونت سے اور ACTED کے شراکت دار کے طور پر چلایا جا رہا ہے۔ منصوبے کے اہم شعبے درج ذیل ہیں:
• پانی، صفائی اور حفظانِ صحت (WASH) کی سرگرمیاں تاکہ صحت اور صفائی کو بہتر بنایا جا سکے۔

گفتگو میں منصوبے کی کامیابیاں، کمیونٹیز کو درپیش چیلنجز، اور مستقبل کے منصوبے بھی زیرِ بحث آئے۔ دونوں فریقین نے اس بات پر زور دیا کہ انسانی ہمدردی کی تنظیموں اور سرکاری محکموں کے درمیان مضبوط ہم آہنگی ضروری ہے تاکہ کمزور آبادیوں کو مؤثر خدمات اور طویل مدتی معاونت فراہم کی جا سکے۔
دوآبہ فاؤنڈیشن نے اپنی اس عزم کو دہرایا کہ وہ حکومتی اداروں کے ساتھ قریبی تعاون جاری رکھے گی تاکہ پائیدار بحالی، بہتر معیارِ زندگی، اور متاثرہ خاندانوں کی لچک کو یقینی بنایا جا سکے، تاکہ کمیونٹیز عزت اور امید کے ساتھ آگے بڑھ سکیں۔

DMAC Muzaffargarh Meeting held on 21 January 2026 at Deputy Commissioner Committee room.

The District Malnutrition Addressing Committee (DMAC) meeting convened in Muzaffargarh under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Usman Tahir Jappa. The meeting focused on the orientation of the Multisectoral Nutrition and Early Childhood Development (ECD) Dashboard and review of departmental indicators under the Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Strategy (MSNS 2024–2030).

Key participants included Mst. Chiaki Kido, Team Leader JICA Multisectoral Team, Dr. Nasir, Project Manager JICA, Javed Iqbal, Manager Programs Doaba Foundation, ADC Finance & Planning Mst. Anam, and representatives from all relevant district departments.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to ensure proper data entry, hold monthly review meetings. On the suggestion of Javed Iqbal, Doaba Foundation, the DC further directed to include the CSOs in process and a training be conducted for DMAC members. Accordingly, in February 2026, JICA, the Planning & Development Board, and Doaba Foundation will arrange the training for government representatives to strengthen capacity for effective implementation of MSNS 2024–2030.

ضلع مظفرگڑھ میں غذائی قلت سے نمٹنے والی کمیٹی (DMAC) کا اجلاس ڈپٹی کمشنر عثمان طاہر جپہ کی صدارت میں منعقد ہوا۔ اجلاس کا مقصد کثیر شعبہ جاتی غذائیت اور ابتدائی بچپن کی نشوونما (ECD) ڈیش بورڈ کی آگاہی دینا اور کثیر شعبہ جاتی غذائیت حکمتِ عملی (MSNS 2024–2030) کے تحت مختلف محکموں کے اشاریوں کا جائزہ لینا تھا۔

اجلاس میں مس چیاکی کیڈو، ٹیم لیڈر جائیکا کثیر شعبہ جاتی ٹیم، ڈاکٹر ناصر، پروجیکٹ مینیجر جائیکا، جاوید اقبال، منیجر پروگرامز دوآبہ فاؤنڈیشن، ایڈیشنل ڈپٹی کمشنر فنانس و پلاننگ مس انعم اور دیگر محکموں کے نمائندے شریک ہوئے۔

ڈپٹی کمشنر نے تمام محکموں کو ہدایت دی کہ ڈیش بورڈ میں بروقت اور درست ڈیٹا درج کریں اور ہر ماہ اجلاس منعقد کریں۔ جاوید اقبال، دوآبہ فاؤنڈیشن کی تجویز پر ڈپٹی کمشنر نے مزید ہدایت دی کہ سول سوسائٹی تنظیموں (CSOs) کو بھی عمل میں شامل کیا جائے اور DMAC کے اراکین کے لیے تربیت کا انعقاد کیا جائے۔ اس کے مطابق فروری 2026 میں جائیکا، پلاننگ اینڈ ڈویلپمنٹ بورڈ اور دوآبہ فاؤنڈیشن مشترکہ طور پر سرکاری نمائندوں کے لیے تربیت کا اہتمام کریں گے تاکہ MSNS 2024–2030 کے مؤثر نفاذ کی صلاحیت کو بہتر بنایا جا سکے۔

Disaster prone communities, persons with disabilities and their organizations, our partner CBM, the Deputy Commissioner, Social Welfare Department, DMAs, journalists, media, CSOs, academia, and the Doaba team have all played a vital role in strengthening the resilience of persons with disabilities, their families, and communities living in risk-prone areas. These glimpses are from the validation, learning, and closing workshop of the five-year Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction program in Muzaffargarh, Punjab, Pakistan. Doaba Foundation with the support of CBM, DC MUZAFFARGARH_Official, District administration, Social Welfare Department, press club Muzaffargarh, OPDs, and other stakeholders, successfully completed the Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction project in Muzaffargarh, south Punjab and Pakistan, DOABA Foundation, DC Muzaffargarh, DC MUZAFFARGARH_Official, and alliance members reaffirm their commitment to building safer, more resilient communities where no one is left behind. This journey was strengthened by the active participation of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) from Muzaffargarh and Multan, NHN members, Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) Multan, local CSOs, Press Club Muzaffargarh, media persons, experts, and international partners including Acted, Care, CBM, and Action for Humanity. The dedicated DOABA Foundation team, together with CBID Network members and NHN members, ensured that disability inclusion remained at the heart of disaster risk reduction. This collective effort demonstrates that resilience is strongest when built on diversity, equity, and collaboration—ensuring dignity and protection for all.
