Peace Foundation, has initiated Demand Generation for the DMPA-SC (Sayana Press) Self-Injection Method for Family Planning through a Community Referral Model in six districts of Karachi. Dr. Syeda Tahira Bilal GM, Peace Foundaiton conducted an information dissemination session as part of the program’s launch. The session brought together 22 community volunteers from Districts Malir, East, and Korangi, who learned about the DMPA-SC Sayana Press injectable contraceptive, its safe self-injection procedure, and its benefits as a convenient, discreet, and long-acting method of family planning. Peace Foundation also introduced a community referral system to connect interested women with trained providers and ensure follow-up support through local health networks. This initiative marks a significant step toward improving accessibility, privacy, and informed choice in family planning services, particularly for women in underserved areas of Karachi.

What a rural women say about DMPA-SC (Taken from FGD of Peace Foundation)“As a mother of three living in a remote village, I never thought I could take control of my body and my decisions. Long distances to the clinic, social stigma, and limited resources always came in the way. But then I learned about DMPA-SC Sayana Press a small injection I could use myself, every three months, safely and privately at home. I received training from local health workers, and with their support, I felt confident. It’s been over a year now. No travel, no waiting, no judgment — just confidence, control, and peace of mind. I can focus on my children’s future, my small embroidery business, and most importantly, my health. If I can do it, so can other women. Self-injection changed my life. Let’s support more women to make informed, independent choices about family planning.
