The Department of Environmental Sciences AWKUM, in collaboration with the Prime Minister's Green Youth Movement Club, successfully organized a cultural exhibition titled "Environmental Profile of Pakistan." Students across various departments enthusiastically participated in the exhibition and promoted Pakistan's rich cultural and environmental heritage.
Students creatively set up stalls representing the diverse cultures of all regions, including Sindh, Baluchistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Each stall showcased traditional clothing, handicrafts, jewellery, pottery, and decorative arts. Students wore traditional attire representing their respective regions, enhancing the cultural ambience. Faculty members from various departments visited the exhibition stalls and appreciated the students' efforts. The gathering created a lively and festive atmosphere, with attendees capturing memorable moments through photographs.
Our esteemed adjudicator, Sir Asfandyar Afandi, from the PCA, evaluated the exhibits. He praised the students for their impressive artistic expressions and well-researched displays. The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Saleem Ullah, Dean Faculty of Chemical and Life Sciences visited the stalls and emphasised the significance of such activities inside the university. In his speech he stated, "This is a commendable initiative to raise awareness among our youth about the rich cultural and artistic legacy of our elders. It is essential to reconnect students with the roots of their traditions." He further applauded the department and the GYM club for their dedication to enriching students' personal development. Dr. Shams Ali Baig, Head of Environmental Sciences Department, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all participants, the adjudicator, and the respected Chief Guest for their presence and valuable contributions. He acknowledged the collective efforts that made the event successful and encouraged students to continue promoting cultural understanding and environmental awareness through meaningful platforms.
The Chief Guest awarded the top three winners with certificates and appreciation shields. Sudais Khan and Muniza from IBL achieved 1st place for their presentation of Pushtoon cultural art. Abdul Mussawir Baluch from the Environmental Sciences Department took 2nd place for representing Balochi art. Irfan Khan from the Department of Tourism and Hospitality achieved 3rd position for his excellent representation of Swat’s traditional art. Dr. Syed Weqas Ali and Mr. Imdad Ullah Arif presented the organising team with Certificates of Appreciation in recognition of their teamwork and commitment to the event’s success. The event concluded on a note of unity, cultural pride, and heightened environmental consciousness among students.
