🏫 Building Safer Learning Environments in Mansehra & Battagram

Under the ILMpact Programme, Friends Welfare Association (FWA) successfully conducted a 3-day School Safeguarding Framework Training in the districts of Mansehra and Battagram.
A total of 100 participants, including headteachers, safeguarding focal persons, and education staff, were trained to strengthen child protection and promote effective safeguarding practices in schools.
On the final day of the training, the District Education Officer (Female), Mansehra visited the training hall, interacted with the participants, appreciated their active engagement, received feedback from the teachers, and distributed certificates to the successful participants. She commended the initiative and emphasized the importance of implementing safeguarding practices to ensure safe and inclusive learning environments for all children.
Together, we are creating safer, more inclusive, and child-friendly learning environments where every child can learn, grow, and thrive.

🏫 ILMpact Project: Creating safer, more inclusive, and child-centered learning friendly schools.

Friends Welfare Association (FWA), under the ILMpact Programme, is actively implementing infrastructure improvement and rehabilitation works in schools across Mansehra and Battagram districts. Following comprehensive School Accessibility Audits, identified infrastructure improvements are being carried out to create more inclusive, accessible and child-friendly learning environments.

The ongoing interventions include the inclusive classrooms, toilets, access ramps, drinking water facilities, and other essential school infrastructure. These improvements are helping children—especially those with disabilities and mobility challenges—access schools more easily and learn in a safe and supportive environment.

We are pleased to share that rehabilitation works in several schools have now reached their final stage, bringing us closer to providing improved learning facilities for hundreds of children. Upon completion, these upgraded schools will offer a more accessible, safe, and conducive environment for education.

FCDO Monitoring Visit Conducted under ILMpact Programme
FCDO delegation visit was conducted at GGPS Dhodial No. 3 and GGPS Sandysar, District Mansehra, under the ILMpact Programme, implemented by Friends Welfare Association in collaboration with the British Council.
Visit reviewed ongoing school rehabilitation work and assessed progress on infrastructure improvements aimed at creating a safe and conducive learning environment for students. The FCDO delegation, along with the DEO Female Mansehra, also carried out classroom observations of RL and CLP classes to review teaching practices, student engagement, and overall learning progress.
Delegation was briefed on rehabilitation progress, site plans, and overall project implementation. An opening ceremony was also held at GGPS Sandysar in the presence of the delegation, DEO Female Mansehra, and education department officials.
Through ILMpact Programme, we remain committed to strengthening education infrastructure and creating better learning opportunities for children.

A school bag may seem simple — but for many children, it carries hope, confidence, and a future.

Under the ILMpact Project, we are supporting children, especially those out of school and from marginalized communities, with school bags and essential learning supplies to help them start and continue their education with dignity.

These small steps are making a big difference:

Every child deserves a chance to learn, grow, and dream — no matter their challenges.

Under the ILMpact Project, we are not only bringing children to school but also making sure that schools are ready for every child. Through medical and disability screenings, we are supporting children with assistive devices like hearing aids, eyeglasses, wheelchairs, and mobility supports.

These are not just devices , they are gateways to confidence, independence, and inclusion. When a child can hear clearly, see better, or move freely, their world changes and so does their future.

Inclusive Schools for Every Child
Under the ILMpact Project, we are moving beyond enrolment to ensure that schools become truly inclusive spaces for all children.
Following medical and disability screening, we are now supporting Children with Disabilities (CWDs) through the provision of assistive devices, including wheelchairs, hearing aids, eyeglasses, and other mobility supports.
This initiative is not only helping access to education, but also enabling them to learn with dignity, confidence, and equal opportunity.
At ILMpact, we believe that inclusive education means more than bringing children into classrooms , it means making classrooms ready for every child.
