Strengthening Partnerships for Women’s Economic Empowerment

This afternoon, an MoU was signed between Saibaan Development Organization Pakistan and the District Social Welfare Office Mansehra at the Social Welfare Complex, Mansehra.

The agreement was formally signed by Dr. Sahibzada Jawad Alfaizi on behalf of Saibaan Development Organization Pakistan and Miss Saira Mushtaq on behalf of the District Social Welfare Office Mansehra.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Zahoor Ahmed (Program Director, Saibaan), Miss Aqsa Riaz (Manager M&E), Mr. Muhammad Akhtar Naeem (Senior Journalist & Ex-Member BoG), and Mr. Tariq Aziz Khan.

Through this collaboration, both organizations agreed to work closely to support women handicraft specialists and artisans, strengthen their capacities, and facilitate market linkages for their products to promote sustainable livelihoods and economic empowerment.

We look forward to building meaningful opportunities and creating lasting impact for local communities.

Ecotourism in Pakistan has emerged as an important approach to promoting sustainable travel while preserving the country’s rich natural and cultural heritage. Pakistan is home to diverse landscapes including the northern mountain ranges, forests, lakes, deserts, and coastal areas that attract both domestic and international tourists. Destinations such as the northern valleys, national parks, and protected areas offer opportunities for responsible tourism that supports environmental conservation and benefits local communities. The government, private sector, and local organizations have increasingly focused on promoting ecotourism through improved infrastructure, awareness campaigns, and community-based tourism initiatives.

Despite its growing potential, ecotourism in Pakistan faces several challenges. Limited infrastructure, inadequate waste management, environmental degradation, and lack of awareness about sustainable tourism practices remain major concerns. In some tourist destinations, unplanned development and increasing visitor numbers have placed pressure on natural ecosystems. Additionally, issues such as accessibility, climate change impacts, and insufficient local capacity building hinder long-term growth. Addressing these challenges requires stronger environmental policies, community participation, responsible tourist behavior, and investment in eco-friendly facilities to ensure sustainable tourism development in Pakistan.

Miss Aqsa joined Saibaan in 2013 as a Human Resource Officer and has since served the organization in various capacities with professionalism, commitment, and excellence. Throughout her career at Saibaan, she has successfully undertaken diverse responsibilities, including serving as Finance Officer (2019–2021), managing the Management Information System (MIS), and contributing significantly as a Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer.
Her versatility, leadership skills, and unwavering dedication have made her an asset to the organization. Saibaan Development Organization Pakistan proudly recognizes the commitment and hard work of Mr. Sher Ghiyas Baig, who hails from Upper Chitral.
Mr. Sher Ghiyas joined Saibaan in 2013 as an Admin and Finance Assistant in a project being implemented in Chitral. Through his dedication, professionalism, and outstanding performance, he was later posted to the Head Office, where he has continued to serve the organization with distinction.

Strengthening Partnerships for Women’s Economic Empowerment

The management of SAIBAAN Development Organization Pakistan, led by Dr. Sahibzada Jawad Alfaizi (CEO), accompanied by Mr. Zahoor Ahmed (Director Programs) and Ms. Aqsa Riaz (Manager M&E), paid a visit to the District Social Welfare Complex Mansehra and held a productive meeting with Ms. Saira Mushtaq, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Mansehra.

The meeting focused on developing an MoU for mutual cooperation aimed at promoting women’s economic empowerment across the district. Key areas of discussion included:

✅ Establishment of a Display Center for showcasing and marketing products made by women’s groups and artisans.
✅ Strengthening market linkages and enhancing product visibility through social media promotion.
✅ Development of a comprehensive database of women artisans to facilitate networking, capacity building, and access to economic opportunities.

Both organizations expressed their commitment to working together to create sustainable opportunities for women, enhance livelihoods, and promote inclusive community development in Mansehra.
