The earthquake of October 8, 2005, brought immense miseries to the people of AJK and some parts of NWFP. Thousands of people lost their lives, countless became pa

The entire world was shocked, and the volunteers from all over the globe came together and started post-earthquake relief activities. Number of national and international development organizations made all possible efforts to relieve the suffering of the affected people. The founders of GAAP also took active part in the relief work. We managed to distribute the relief goods in Siren Valley and Balakot. Two months health based need assessment surveys were conducted for “Médecins Sans Frontières” (MSF) in the earthquake affected area. We worked in partnership with World Vision and carried out detailed needs assessment survey in 02 UCs of Tehsil Oghi and 01 UC of Tehsil Balakot. Visual highlights of TNA Exercise in Village Bumbarate (Kelash Valley)👈🏼👀

Under the Ba-Ikhtiar project, PPAF, in collaboration with PTCL Group and locally implemented by GAAP (partner organization of PPAF, successfully conducted a Training Needs Assessment (TNA) exercise in District Chitral, UC Ayun, Village Bumburet, Kalash Valley.
This session engaged 34 young girls from the Kalash community, marking an important step in extending the outreach of Ba-Ikhtiar to one of the most marginalised and culturally distinct areas of Pakistan. The exercise identified several market-relevant skills and trades for women, which included areas such as stitching, embroidery, handicrafts, tailoring, beautician services, and other traditional crafts that align with both community demand and local market opportunities.
The TNA drive in Kalash Valley is not only a means to identify skill gaps but also a milestone in advancing PPAF’s vision of women’s empowerment, inclusiveness, and equal opportunities for remote and minority communities. Following this phase, the selected girls will undergo specialised vocational training, further strengthened with digital marketing and financial literacy modules to enhance their access to sustainable livelihoods.
As part of the Ba-Ikhtiar initiative, a total of 2,100 women across 22 districts will be trained, fostering resilience, digital inclusion, and inclusive economic growth for women from diverse socio-cultural backgrounds.
