Rishad Hossain is writing a story that will be remembered for years to come. In the context of Bangladesh cricket, it is truly something special.
A player who couldn’t even break into the playing XI regularly in his own domestic cricket, and then not even consistently for the Comilla Victorians despite performing well. That same player is now all set to play for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League.
And this is not the end. The Hobart Hurricanes signed him twice. He couldn’t play last season due to not receiving an NOC, yet the BBL champions still signed him again for this season. You have to be THAT good to be given a second chance in the BBL.
He is only the second Bangladeshi after Shakib Al Hasan to ever play in the BBL. A few years ago… did anyone, even in their wildest imagination, think that a leg-spinner from Bangladesh would be playing in Australia and other franchise leagues?
Well done, Rishad. And a special thank you to Hathurusingha and everyone else who believed in him.
