The March is not aligned to any political party, NGO or corporation.

LAHORE AGAINST GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

We come together this Saturday to remember Hina Javed, Hina Zareef, Ayesha Gilamana, Jannat Khatoon and countless others whom we lost to gender-based violence, and to stand in solidarity with every woman and girl whose life, safety, and dignity have been threatened by violence. We also highlight that transgender women are uniquely targeted by patriarchal violence.

This vigil is a space for remembrance, grief, solidarity, and collective resolve.

We stand with our sisters in Islamabad, Balochistan, and across Pakistan. Their struggles are not distant from us, and their voices will not go unheard.

Lahore will take a stand. Lahore will not be silent. Lahore stands against gender-based violence.

Join us as we gather in their memory and affirm, together, that violence against women is not inevitable, acceptable, or something we will look away from.

📢 JOINT CALL TO PROTEST FOR KASHMIR 📢
Progressive organizations in Lahore call for a protest in soldiarity with the people of Kashmir and their movement. We condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the state violence enacted against protesters in Kashmir.

We, Kashmiri students, labour organizations and unions, feminist organizaions, and progressive organizations, call you to come together and raise your voice.

The life sentence given to Mahrang Baloch and Shah Jee Sibghat Ullah is a horrific, immoral attempt to silence their voices, while the killers of Baloch protesters during the Baloch Raji Machi remain free. It is completely unlawful, unjust and unacceptable.

Aurat March Lahore is horrified by the gang r**e, forced abortion and murder of an 18-year-old domestic worker in Lahore.

Women domestic workers, especially young children and teenagers employed in homes, are vulnerable to physical and emotional abuse, sexual violence, harassment and economic exploitation. While we need robust laws and mechanisms to ensure that the exploitation, structural and physical violence inside these homes is subject to accountability, we also need to challenge the capitalist, patriarchal and often casteist system that undergirds this exploitation. Domestic workers are often not seen as workers with rights, but at the whim and mercy of employers, which often results in extreme forms of violence and routinised dehumanisation.

It is clear as day that these NOC terms have little to do with the security or welfare of the public attending Aurat March, it is a means to control and dilute the politics of the march. We stand in complete solidarity with the volunteers of who have worked tirelessly all year long to make the march possible. We do not need permission to come out in their own country; these streets were always ours and shall remain. If the Sindh government fails to respect Aurat March Karachi’s unconditional right to march, then we will hold them accountable.

The Federal Constitutional Court set a terrible precedent last week when it approved the marriage of a Christain child with a 30 year old Muslim man, undermining recent progress on the issue of child marriage.

Aurat March Lahore sees this as part of how our judicial system has failed women, gender diverse people and girls. The courts refusal to see power dynamics of age and religion at play in the case speak to how we are treated in society.

Today is to mark January 25, 2014, when mass graves were found in Tootak, near Khuzdar, Balochistan. Twelve years on, Balochistan remains the site of mass injustice marked by structural oppression.
Aurat March Lahore calls for an end to violent state practices in Balochistan as well as an end to the system of economic extraction, dehumanisation, surveillance and prolonged repression.
