Applications Open | 14-Day Paid Field Internship

The Center for Law & Justice (CLJ) is hiring Intern Field Officers for the Women on Wheels Rickshaw project in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad and Gujranwala.

This is a full-time, two-week field internship designed for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in community outreach, field surveys and data collection.

Internship Benefits
• Daily stipend for fieldwork
• Payment for each verified applicant
• Experience letter upon successful completion of the internship

Eligibility: Minimum 14 years of education. Students currently pursuing their university degrees may also apply, provided they meet the minimum educational requirement. Previous experience in fieldwork, surveys, data collection, community mobilisation or outreach will be preferred.

Applicants must be available full-time from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM for all 14 days of the internship.

The Center for Law and Justice (CLJ), in collaboration with LUMS, a Microfinance Institution, inDrive Pakistan, Punjab TRAFFIC POLICE PUNJAB, and Punjab Safe City Authority, is bringing a new income-generation opportunity for in Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Sheikhupura.

Selected women will be able to get a rickshaw through a subsidized financing arrangement and use it to drive, earn, and build an independent source of income through regular rides, pick and drop services, InDrive, or other suitable work.

As part of Khushhali Fellowship 2.0, Khushhali Fellows visited the Senate of Pakistan in Islamabad for a Public Service & Governance exposure visit that offered valuable insights into the upper house of the country’s Parliament.

During the visit, fellows explored the Senate Museum, where they learned about the history, structure, and evolution of the Senate. They also visited the Senate Hall, gaining a clearer understanding of how legislative debates, discussions, and decisions take place at the federal level.

This exposure helped fellows understand the significance of parliamentary institutions in promoting representation, accountability, and democratic governance in Pakistan.

As part of Khushhali Fellowship 2.0, Khushhali Fellows visited the National Assembly of Pakistan in Islamabad for a meaningful exposure to the country’s legislative processes and democratic institutions.

During the visit, fellows explored the Assembly Hall, where national laws are debated and passed, gaining an understanding of how parliamentary proceedings take place. They also visited the SDGs Secretariat, where they learned about Pakistan’s efforts to implement the Sustainable Development Goals through legislative action, public policy, and institutional coordination.

This visit deepened the fellows’ understanding of democratic governance, policymaking, and the importance of inclusive development at the national level.

As part of their visit to the Lahore High Court under Khushhali Fellowship 2.0, Khushhali Fellows had the opportunity to visit the Office of the Advocate General Punjab and engage in an insightful conversation with Mr. Khalid Ishaq, Advocate General Punjab.

Mr. Ishaq shared the roles and responsibilities of the Advocate General, explaining how his office supports the legal functioning of the provincial government. He also discussed his involvement in the Jaranwala churches-burning incident in 2014, providing context on the legal response and the actions taken at the government level.

Mr. Usama Khawar also shared an overview of the history of judicial institutions in Pakistan, particularly in Lahore, and highlighted the significant role each institution has played in upholding the rule of law.

Fellows actively participated in the discussion by asking thoughtful questions about the post, its scope, and the handling of the Jaranwala case, gaining a deeper understanding of how legal leadership intersects with justice and minority protection.

As part of Khushhali Fellowship 2.0, Khushhali Fellows visited the Lahore High Court to gain firsthand exposure to Pakistan’s judicial system and legal institutions.

During the visit, fellows toured the courtrooms, the Lahore Bar Association, the Women Advocates Bar, and the Office of the Attorney General. These visits helped fellows understand the structure of the legal system and the everyday workings of legal professionals within it.

Fellows also had the opportunity to interact with Ms. Nida Usman Chaudhary - Founder of Women in Law, Mr. Sattar Sahil - Assistant Advocate General, and Mr. Usama Khawar - Legal Advisor to the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly. The conversations offered valuable insights into legal careers, constitutional responsibilities, and the relationship between law and governance.

This exposure inspired fellows to reflect on justice, rule of law, and the possibilities of engaging with legal reform as future advocates for change.

As part of Khushhali Fellowship 2.0, Khushhali Fellows visited the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in Lahore for a Public Service & Governance Exposure Visit. This visit provided them with a closer look into how legislative institutions function and the role they play in shaping governance in Pakistan.

Fellows visited the historic old building, Assembly Library, new building, and Speaker’s Office. Through these experiences, they gained insights into the structure of provincial governance, the legislative process, and how laws are debated and passed.

This exposure encouraged fellows to think critically about public institutions, representation, and their own potential role as active citizens in democratic processes.

As part of Khushhali Fellowship 2.0, Khushhali Fellows visited NUST for an educational exposure visit that offered a deep insight into innovation, research, and interdisciplinary learning at one of Pakistan’s top-ranked universities.

Fellows explored key spaces including the Central Library, National Science and Technology Park (NSTP), School of Interdisciplinary Engineering and Science (SINES), and the Research, Innovation & Commercialization (RIC) Center. Each space highlighted the role of advanced learning and innovation in shaping the future of science and society.

They also met with Ms. Eileen N Dass, Executive Assistant to the Rector, and Dr. Rizwan Riaz, Pro-Rector (Research, Innovation and Commercialisation), who shared insights on NUST’s academic environment, short courses, internship opportunities, and various programs available beyond degree offerings. Fellows were encouraged to consider how they too could access such platforms and benefit from them.

This visit broadened fellows’ understanding of educational possibilities and inspired them to explore their potential in fields driven by innovation and technology.

As part of Khushhali Fellowship 2.0, Khushhali Fellows visited Forman Christian College for an educational exposure visit that offered rich insights into academic life, research, and learning resources at one of Pakistan’s premier institutions.

Fellows explored several key spaces on campus, including the Main Library, Natural Science Museum, Molecular Biology Lab, Botanical Garden, and the Public Policy Research & Resource Center. This multi-disciplinary visit allowed fellows to experience both the academic and research environment firsthand.

They also had the opportunity to interact with senior representatives of FCCU, who shared valuable information about reserved quotas, scholarship opportunities, and hostel facilities, especially for students traveling from other cities to Lahore for higher education. This visit expanded the fellows’ understanding of accessible educational pathways and encouraged them to dream bigger.
