Punjab Judo Association is the only leading Judo organization in Pakistan that is working rigorously and devotedly for over three decades, for the promotion of Judo. The idea of training the armed forces in the art of Judo was first introduced by Mr. Mahmood Naveed (President PJA) which immediately caught the attention of military high-command of Pakistan. Mahmood Naveed was officially appointed a
s the official military trainer and has selflessly trained hundreds of army professionals (Infantry, Naval, Air Force and SSG) in training camps that were held from late 70’s through to the 90’s at military bases and Dojos all over Pakistan. Now, Judo forms a vital part of a cadet’s hand-to-hand combat training. In addition, civil students both male and female trained by the PJA/Mr. Mahmood Naveed have not only earned PJA countless medals and other awards of honor, but also have proudly represented Pakistan on many international platforms. Mahmood Naveed (President PJA) has always been a fierce advocate of, and is a living example of, “Performance over Promotion” ideology, the PJA usually kept a low profile while continuing to serve Pakistan altruistically. Over the years however, many unoriginal organizations started to surface, and Mr. Mahmood Naveed felt the need to create a clear distinction between the original and the unoriginal. It became therefore imperative that the PJA came to public attention without delay so as to protect the sanctity and honor of the art of Judo. The PJA was officially reborn on March 4, 2012 in a meeting in Lahore. Founding members, long-time Judo loyalists and media personnel attended the meeting and a constitution was decided upon.
