Legal Career Pathways in Pakistan:Part–II

The LUMS Law Alumni Association (LLAA) is pleased to invite students and young lawyers to Legal Career Pathways in Pakistan: Part – II, an interactive panel discussion taking place on 24 July 2026 at 5:00 PM.

This second session brings together LUMS Law alumni working in legal technology and AI, startup and technology law, in-house counsel roles, corporate advisory, and public sector regulation. Their careers have taken different routes: private practice, international development organizations, corporate legal departments, regulatory bodies, and legal tech ventures they built themselves.

The panellists will discuss what these paths involve in practice, including the trade-offs each one carries. They will speak about the choices that shaped their own careers, and about how technology is changing what the profession expects of young lawyers.

Students and young lawyers can expect practical advice on choosing a direction after law school, building commercial awareness, forming professional networks, and finding internships and mentors.

Legal Career Pathways in Pakistan: Part – I

The LUMS Law Alumni Association (LLAA) is pleased to invite students and young lawyers to Legal Career Pathways in Pakistan: Part – I, an interactive panel discussion taking place on 17 July 2026 at 5:00 PM.

The first session of this series brings together a diverse group of LUMS Law alumni whose careers reflect the wide range of opportunities available within the legal profession. The panel features practitioners working across litigation, dispute resolution, corporate advisory, human rights, environmental and animal rights law, and legal research. Drawing on experiences from practice before the District Courts and High Courts, corporate and commercial advisory work, public interest advocacy, and specialized legal practice, the panellists will share insights into their career journeys, the challenges and opportunities they encountered, and the skills that proved most valuable in the early years of practice.

The discussion will provide practical guidance for law students and young lawyers on exploring different legal career paths, developing professional skills, securing meaningful internships and mentorship opportunities, and making informed decisions about life after law school.

Corporate Law Course: Module B – Securities, Banking and Corporate Litigation

Mr. Salman Ijaz is a partner at the law firm KhanIjaz Advocates, where he heads the corporate dispute resolution practice. He holds a B.A. LL.B (Honours) with a minor in Political Sciences from LUMS, where he graduated as the NMF Gold Medalist from the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law, and an LL.M from Harvard Law School, where he was the receipient of a Dean’s Scholar award for his coursework in Corporations.

Alternate Dispute Resolution Course: Module - B: ADR Mechanisms in Pakistan

Mr. WASIF MAJEED, LL.M, MCIArb is an accomplished legal practitioner with over two decades of experience in litigation, alternative dispute resolution and international dispute resolution. An LL.M graduate in International Dispute Resolution from the University of London, he is an Advocate of the Supreme Court and High Courts of Pakistan. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), an accredited mediator of CEDR (UK). He is an approved international faculty of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK.

Mr. Majeed is a founding member of the CIArb Pakistan Branch and was appointed the International Chamber of Commerce Paris as its Young ADR & Arbitrators Forum (‘ICC YAAF’) Representative for North Asia (2024–2026). His career spans complex legal domains, including international arbitration, commercial law, banking, telecom, energy, and IP rights enforcement. He is also an experienced ADR trainer and had served as a visiting faculty member at Government College University, Lahore.

Civil Law Course: Module - C: Urban & Rural Land Litigation

Mr. Khurram Aziz is an Advocate & Legal Consultant with over seven years of active legal practice, specializes in Civil Law, Land Laws, and Revenue Laws. He is ctively associated with the real estate sector for the past four years, providing strategic legal advisory in property matters, title due diligence, conveyancing, and land-related disputes. He possesses extensive expertise in revenue law, including revenue practice, procedures, and operational matters before civil courts and revenue authorities. He is also recognized for a thorough understanding of land administration and a solution-oriented approach to complex property issues.

Introducing our Faculty for LLAA’s Young Lawyers Training Program, 2025

Barrister Arooj Bokhari is an Advocate of the High Courts and is currently working as a Special Prosecutor of the Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan. She is a Global Distinction Holder of the University of London in 2015 and is a Member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, UK. She has also served as the CEO of BAB.Legal, a law firm offering pro bono family law and human rights services.
