Global Popular Culture Project: Documentary Screening and Portfolio Presentation

The Global Orbit Society of the Global Studies Department, Institute of Global and Historical Studies, invites you to an academic showcase that brings together creative work, research, and multimedia storytelling.

We proudly present an engaging academic event where students of the Institute of Global and Historical Studies will showcase their projects on the course of Global Popular Culture, taught by Dr. Saima Khan. Let us explore, from street food stalls to streaming screens, from power plays to playful games— Global Popular Culture is our shared stage.

It is where Flavors, voices, and ideas cross borders, and develop the language of taste, play, power, and storytelling, that shape the way students see the world, and how we live and dream together.

Date: Friday, 28th November 2025
Venue: Lecture Theatre 212, 1st Floor, North wing, institute of global and historical studies, academic block, GC University, new campus, KSK.

Join us for an insightful session on “Sanitation in a Changing World”, where we’ll explore the urgent need to invest in future‑ready sanitation systems—accessible to all, resilient to climate shocks, and designed to minimize greenhouse gas emissions.

✨ This practicum will dive deep into the socio‑cultural, architectural, and philosophical ideologies behind sanitation, connecting directly to SDG 6 (Clean Water & Sanitation) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality).

Lectures of Philosopher, Slavoj Zizek, and of California based Architect, Dami Lee, will be displayed to follow student led discussion.

The Global Orbit Society joyfully celebrated 2nd Anniversary of the GCUL - Global Studies Department 🎂. The event doubled as a warm and candid welcome party for our 1st semester students—a perfect blend of tradition and new beginnings!

👩‍🏫 Dr. Saima Khan, Incharge of the Department, along with the Cabinet of Global Orbit Society, extended heartfelt greetings to all teachers and students of the Institute of Global and Historical Studies.

🎂 The highlight of the evening was the cake‑cutting ceremony led by Dr. Hussain, Director of the Institute, followed by a welcome note that brought together faculty and students from across departments.

The celebration was filled with laughter, fun activities, and unforgettable moments—truly reflecting the vibrant spirit of our Global Studies community 🌍💫.

The Global Orbit Society of the GCUL - Global Studies Department, Institute of Global and Historical Studies, GC University Lahore invites you to an enriching trip, to celebrate " " on Sunday 16th of November 2025. The trip will include visits to the Ravi River and Kartarpur Sahib, where participants will engage with local communities and observe how faith, culture, and environment intersect in shaping human connections.

At the Ravi, we will explore ideas of community and sustainability, reflecting on the impact of the 2025 flooding, while Kartarpur will offer a chance to appreciate interfaith harmony and the shared values that bring societies together.

INTERSECT Fellow, University of Copenhagen, and did Urban Engineering as a MEXT Scholar, from the University of Tokyo, Japan.
