Migratory birds move across continents, carrying signals about the health of our ecosystems, connecting wetlands, forests, and coastlines into a single living network.

Yet much of what we know about these journeys is built not only by satellites and institutions, but by everyday observations on the ground.

This World Migratory Bird Day 2026, let's bring this into focus: every sighting recorded, every species noted, every count contributed strengthens our understanding of migratory pathways and the pressures these birds face along the way.

We bring you the lens of photographer Imran Ashraf capturing migratory birds in their natural passage across our landscapes. These images are more than visual records; they are living observations that speak to movement, resilience, and ecological connection.

Creating water-secure communities takes more than one solution, it requires collective, innovative action.

WWF-Pakistan is working across towns and schools in Pakistan to advance water conservation and promote the concept of water-sensitive cities through community-led interventions.

An exposure visit was conducted under 'Building Water-Sensitive Societies: Collaborative Solutions for Freshwater Resilience and Sustainability', a GSK-funded initiative. It brought together key stakeholders to directly witness ongoing water conservation efforts on the ground. The initiative reflects an effort to embed water conservation into everyday systems through linking awareness, infrastructure, and collective responsibility.

Watch the video to see how collaborative efforts are helping shape a more sustainable water future.

With temperatures continuing to rise and heatwave conditions expected across parts of Pakistan, urban wildlife faces increasing stress from extreme heat and limited access to water and shelter.

Simple actions can help protect birds and animals struggling to survive in such environments. Every small effort toward creating safer, cooler spaces contributes to supporting biodiversity in our shared ecosystems.

What if development didn’t come at nature’s expense?

At Hazara Waterfall in Jabb Valley, it doesn’t. Thoughtfully designed pathways and visitor shelters are improving access while keeping the landscape intact.

Led by WWF-Pakistan under the WRAP initiative and funded by FCDO, this is a reminder: the right kind of development works with nature—and benefits people too.
