Gypsies live outside the moral conscience of society. There lies a huge gulf of racism, inequality and discrimination. Slumabad is an organization working to fill this gap by means of empowerment, education and better economic opportunities for the less privileged. Join us to share your care and respect for the most deprived segment of the society. Slumabad works for gypsy kids in the urban slums

of Lahore. We work for establishing schools, taking part in solving sanitary problems as well as helping out in urgent situations. Like other children, gypsy kids need a safe place to live, study and play. Life is hard for children in Pakistan, Slumabad is meant to be the hope worth working for and supporting. Join with us in this worthy cause. We believe that every human being should be treated equally no matter of caste, class or economic and social background. Our mission is to help every slum kid to have access to education, health and equal opportunities in an environment where human rights are valued and respected. Slumabad is helping slum kids realize their dreams in Pakistan.

From Jhuggis to Writing Workshop
بیٹیاں جو پڑھ جائیں
نسلیں سنور جائیں

We believe that these girls, empowered and enabled will tell their stories with much rigor and grit.

It is a small step for many affluent children, but a giant leap when you climb from bottom of the pyramid.

These three students participated in a story writing workshop.

Coming from a humble background and dreaming about a better and inclusive future, it is our aim to pave paths for such promising and creative children.

What does it take for social mobility: a gentle nudge, a kind smile and empathy.

Monday Motivation

When it rains…

It is raining sporadically and the poor Pakhiwas families are repairing their tent covers to sustain monsoon heavy pour.

These Pakhiwas(gypsy and nomad) women are an ultimate source of inspiration as they build their homes, raise their children, sift plastic, metal, cardboard and glass from the trash, and hold the whole family together.

Building Dreams into Reality

While their parents are engaged building and repairing what remains of their tents and huts after windstorms and heavy rains, Pakhiwas children are also busy designing and turning their dreams into reality by constructing their tiny brick homes.

Children love to play and given freedom they manifest their creativity through their daily activities. We appreciate and encourage them to exercise their right to play and be with their friends in a carefree environment. That is the best way of education: exercising their freedom and teamwork and turning it into creativity with their own hands.

Monday Motivation

Our students are our motivation :D

Things in life can get harder and unexpected challenges try to put down their spirits.

But nothing can deter their resolve to learn and progress further in life.

Their huts and tents are blown away by windstorms and whatever they had wad lost by heavy rains. But nothing could steal smile from their beautiful faces.

These Pakhiwas children are writing spelling of their names in dirt and revising their reading and writing skills. Their will to life keeps us motivated and determined
