A safe and respectful workplace is built through awareness, responsibility and the everyday choices we make as colleagues.

As part of CERP’s annual mandatory training for all team members, we hosted a session on the Prevention of Harassment at the Workplace, led by Ms. Mah Rukh Aziz, Legal Advisor at the Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment At Workplace (FOSPAH).

Drawing on over three decades of experience in Pakistan’s judiciary and institutional reform, Ms. Aziz guided the team through the legal framework, employee responsibilities and practical steps for creating a workplace where everyone feels respected and protected.

At CERP, we remain committed to strengthening a culture rooted in respect, inclusion and shared responsibility.

Building a meaningful research career takes effort, dedication and consistency along with years of asking difficult questions.

At a recent CERP session for early career researchers, Dr Muhammad Farhan Majid, health economist and Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Alabama, reflected on his journey studying health, inequality and human capital across Asia, Africa and the Americas.

He shared research on how extreme heat disrupts health systems and puts child immunization at risk, while also speaking honestly about building a career in research and learning how to ask questions that truly matter.

Start with what matters. The rest will follow.

CERP and the Civil Services Academy have shared a longstanding relationship through our joint efforts in strengthening capacity within Pakistan’s civil service, and we were honoured and delighted to continue that collaboration through the session.

The session focused on Policy Analysis and Evidence-Based Decision Making, drawing on CERP’s experience working at the intersection of research, government, and implementation. The discussion was interactive and useful in its contribution to strengthening the continued exchange of ideas, experiences, and institutional learning between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

This was under the Civil Services Academy’s Executive Development Program under the Pakistan–Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor initiative.

At the Civil Services Academy, Lahore, CERP had the opportunity to engage with senior civil servants from Bangladesh under the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor initiative in a session on evidence-based policy design.

Led by Maroof A. Syed, the session looked at how evidence should be driving policy from the start, not just backing it up after decisions are already made. Through discussions on renewable energy, climate resilience, AI in the public sector and equitable tax reform, it was an honest exchange of ideas and learning across institutions and borders, further strengthening the knowledge partnership between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

When we launched the Femtech Innovation Hub (FIHP), we made a promise: Pakistan’s women’s health innovators would not build alone.

Today, that promise became a room full of believers. CERP and LUMS Centre for Entrepreneurship hosted the Investor Summit, bringing together graduates of the FIHP acceleration program, Pakistan’s leading venture capitalists, angel investors and ecosystem builders.

Two standout ventures from our cohort took the stage: Be Me, which redefines mental health access for women and workplaces and EZShifa, which delivers affordable digital primary care at scale. The room included leading investors and ecosystem players: Indus Valley Capital, Sarmayacar, Fatima Gobi Ventures, Amaana Capital, Khantastic Ventures, alongside founders and leaders from Exper Labs, Bookme, Truck It In, Innovate 47, Websketchers and Farmdar.

But this wasn’t just a pitch event. It was a closing ceremony for the program. As Imran Zia, EVP at CERP, put it: “FIHP was never just a program. It was the beginning of a movement, one that puts women’s health at the centre of Pakistan’s innovation agenda."

Degrees matter. But the real flex? Knowing how to keep up.

At Lahore School of Economics, CERP spoke with students about what the job market actually wants right now: adaptability, curiosity, confidence and the ability to learn, unlearn and relearn, especially in an AI-driven world.

The takeaway was simple: you do not need to have your whole life figured out. You just need to stay open, ask better questions and build the skills that help you move with change.
