Women Living Under Muslim Laws Solidarity Network www.wluml.org. Contact us on [email protected] WLUML focuses on laws and customs and the concrete realities of women’s lives.

WLUML is a transnational solidarity network that provides information, support & a collective space for women whose lives are shaped, conditioned or governed by laws & customs said to derive from Islam. This includes the often diverse practices and laws classified as ‘Muslim’ (resulting from different interpretations of religious texts and/or the political use of religion) and the effects these have on women, rather than on the religion of Islam itself.

In Visible but Sidelined: Women, Violence, and Representation in Post-Revolution Bangladesh, researcher and WLUML Fellow Arzu Tasnine Anna examines how gendered violence, unequal laws, and political exclusion continue to structure the country’s democratic transition. Drawing on election data, feminist advocacy, and CEDAW frameworks, the paper asks a critical question: what kind of “new Bangladesh” is possible when women remain excluded from power?

This time our own Roohafza Zarabi wrote how true love is not a passive emotion; it is a devotion to defending women’s fundamental rights across the world.

As WLUML expands our thematic work on Love as political, our very own Roofafza Zarabi pens her thoughts for us.
