50 Years of Shirkat Gah. 50 Years of Feminist Collective.

For five decades, Shirkat Gah has stood alongside women, girls, and marginalized communities in the pursuit of justice, equality, dignity, and human rights.

What began in 1975 as a small voluntary women's collective has grown into one of Pakistan's leading feminist resource centres, supporting communities, strengthening movements, influencing policies, nurturing feminist leadership, and amplifying voices that refuse to be silenced.

This milestone is not only a celebration of our journey, but of the countless women, activists, partners, communities, and allies who have shaped it. Every campaign, every conversation, every act of solidarity has been part of a shared movement toward a more just and inclusive society.

As we celebrate 50 years, we also look ahead, with hope, courage, and an unwavering commitment to advancing feminist values for generations to come.

Together, let's celebrate the past, honour the present, and continue imagining a future where equality, justice, and dignity belong to everyone.

Family Planning Technical Sessions by local health professionals were completed in all 18 villages of Khairpur, engaging 550+ women (including 30+ women of the Hindu minority communities) and 340+ men (including 25+ men of the Hindu minority communities). Women and men openly discussed different Family Planning methods to ensure that children and mothers remain in good health. This helped women better understand the various FP methods and increased their knowledge and confidence on how to manage healthy family dynamics .
Nearly 95% of women had no prior knowledge.
