“Improving Gender Parity for Strengthening Gender-Responsive Justice in Pakistan”
With the joy of successfully completing a highly impactful project and the sadness of bidding farewell to it, Shirkat Gah organized the Closing Seminar of the Gender Parity Project (GPP), implemented with the support of UN Women and funded by the Embassy of Germany.
The seminar brought together representatives from the judiciary, police, prosecution, human rights departments and commissions, civil society, media, government departments, women beneficiaries, and paralegal volunteers to reflect on the project’s achievements.
A key highlight of the event was the launch of the Booklet on Women’s Laws, developed by Ms. Rukhsanda Naz, which was formally presented to Mr. Nisar Ahmad, Additional Inspector General (Training), KP Police.
In the speakers, Mr. Ghulam Ali, Director General Law and Human Rights, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, emphasized that protecting women’s rights is a constitutional and legal responsibility of the state. He highlighted the project’s role in strengthening institutional capacities, developing training resources, and enhancing women’s participation in the police, human rights institutions, and the judiciary.
The seminar also provided an opportunity for beneficiary women and paralegal volunteers to share their experiences, demonstrating the project’s positive impact on legal awareness, empowerment, and community engagement.
Shirkat Gah extends its sincere gratitude to UN Women, the Embassy of Germany, government institutions, partner organizations, and community members whose collaboration made this initiative a success.
Together, we continue our journey towards gender equality, women’s empowerment, and accessible justice for all.
