Zakaat al-Fitr is food, not money, and it is to be given to needy Muslims only

Question:
What do you give for zakatul fitr? Is it money or grain? and what about if you don`t know any body to be given? Is it permissable to give it to the masjid or a kaafir homeless, or kaair in general?

Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.

Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with them both) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) made giving a saa’ of dates or a saa’ of barley as Zakaat al-Fitr an obligation for all Muslims, slave and free, male and female, young and old, and ordered that it should be given before the people went out to pray (Salaat al-Eid).” (Al-Bukhaari, 1503).

Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “We used to pay as Zakaat al-Fitr a saa’ of food or a saa’ of barley (which was their food at that time) or a saa’ or dates or a saa’ of aqit (dried yoghurt) or a saa’ of raisins.” (1506)

From this it is clear that Zakaat al-Fitr must be food, not money, so we must adhere to what has been recorded in the Sunnah. So give one saa’ of whatever is the staple food in your country, such as rice or wheat, for example, on behalf of yourself and each member of your household. (A saa’ is equivalent to approximately 3 kilograms). It is not permissible to give it to anyone except a needy Muslim. If you cannot find anyone in your own country, you can delegate someone else to give it on your behalf in another country. May Allaah help us and you to do the duties that He loves. And Allaah knows best.

The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever prays during Laylat al-Qadr with Iman and hope in Allah's reward will have their past sins forgiven." (Bukhari 1901)

Aishah RA asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what should I say if I find Laylatul-Qadr?" He replied, "Say: اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي (O Allah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me)."
(Sunan Ibn Majah 3850)

Remember, a good deed on this night is better than a lifetime’s worth. Recite Quran, give charity, and make dua across the last 10 nights to increase your chances of catching Laylat al-Qadr.

As we near the end of Ramadan, you may be feeling sad, but take some time to reflect—are you the same person who began this month, or has your heart been shaped by the blessings of Ramadan?

Allah says in the Quran :

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ

"O you who believe, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you so that you may achieve taqwa."
[Al-Baqarah (2):183]

Taqwa means fearing Allah, being mindful and conscious of Him and having self-control.

Having a close relationship with Allah is not just for Ramadan; it's for life! Keep it up!

Put Allah first. Think if every action you are doing would please Him rather than yourself. You will find a whole new approach to life and protect yourself from sin Insha'Allah.

Time passes quickly.
Half of Ramadān has passed.
May Allah forgive our sins, save us from the Hell fire, accept our deeds and help us to make more good deeds in the remaining days of this blessed month.
Ameen

Allah ﷻ does not require us to read that much Quran during Ramadan , and there is no minimum requirement at all.

Even if we dedicate a few minutes everyday to read just a juz’, a chapter, or even just a couple ayahs that would be a great start!

Even if it's tough, just making a bit of effort each day really adds up.

Perhaps on the Day of Judgement this small bit of effort could tip the Scales and save us from the Hellfire.

5 Prophetic Reasons to Give Generously in Ramadan.

1. The Prophet ﷺ was most generous in Ramadan, described as faster in giving than the blowing wind.

2. "Sadaqah extinguishes sins like water extinguishes fire."

3. "Feeding a fasting person earns you the same reward as their fast."

4. "Protect yourself from the Fire even with half a date."

5. "Charity does not decrease wealth."

Ramadan isn’t the month to hold back. It’s the month to give more than you did in the previous months.

✨ Some of the *Beautiful lessons from the story of Prophet Yusuf (AS)* covered so far

* 🌸 *Not everyone needs to know everything about you.*
Some dreams, goals, and blessings are special. Keep them private and share them only with people who truly care about you.

* 🛡️ *Protect yourself from jealousy (hasad)*
Make it a habit to recite Ayat-ul-Kursi and Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas after salah, and in the morning and evening. Allah is your best protector.

* 💛 *Keep your heart clean from jealousy toward others.*
When you feel jealous, make duaa for that person and say Salam to them. This purifies your heart and brings peace.

* 🌧️ *It’s okay to feel sad — but stay connected to Allah.*
Crying and feeling hurt is human. But always remember Allah, trust Him, and don’t lose hope - be greatful and don't complain

* 🚫 *When tempted to do something wrong, turn to Allah immediately.*
Say "مَعَاذَ الله" (I seek Allah’s protection). This builds strength and protects your dignity.

* 🌼 *Always remember your blessings come from Allah.*
Your talents, intelligence, beauty, and success are gifts from Him. Stay humble and grateful. Practice saying ألحمد لله in day to day affairs.

* 🤲 *Allah hears you and knows you.*
He heard Yusuf (AS) when he was alone and in difficulty. He hears you too — so never stop making duaa.

* 🌟 *Have beautiful character at all times.*
Be kind, honest, respectful, and gentle. Your character itself is a form of dawah that inspires others.
