As the Sun descends and the sky is painted a vibrant orange, the Adhan (call to prayer) for Maghrib sounds. During Ramadan, this marks the end of the day-long fast, and Muslims around the world gather to have their meal.

Upon the Iftaar mats at LUMS, students, teachers, administrative and custodian staff alike convene under the divine ordinance of “fasting,” - giving birth to a community that reflects the eternal benevolence of the millennia-old religious tradition. Often shared with family or friends on campus, this meal helps foster a sense of oneness amongst all those in attendance, providing them a semblance of Iftars at home.

Crowdsourced and managed by student volunteers, the Iftar experience embodies the charitable and compassionate aspects of Ramadan, exemplifying the Prophet's (PBUH) teaching: “Whoever provides the food for a fasting person to break his fast with, then for him is the same reward as that fasting person." (Tirmidhi 807).
