God’s promises and covenants are unchanging and faithful.
In Genesis 9:16, God speaks of His covenant with Noah, showing mercy to mankind who had perished under His wrath because of their spiritual and moral corruption: “Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures…”
And in Genesis 17:7, He declares to Abraham:
“I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you…” This covenant was to bless Abraham and his descendants, and through them, all nations.
God’s people, like Abraham, Isaac and Jacob did not work for fame; they were humble and obedient to the word of God. Abraham left his home to follow His voice. They lived their lives walking in faith and faithfulness. Therefore, God blessed them.
God’s covenants are eternal, built on truth, faithfulness, and honor. Yet today, many claim belief in the same God but fail to reflect that same integrity, walking in unfaithfulness while taking His holy name.
King David writes in Psalm 15:
“Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
Who may live on your holy mountain?
The one whose walk is blameless,
who does what is righteous,
who speaks the truth from their heart;
whose tongue utters no slander,
who does no wrong to a neighbor,
and casts no slur on others;
who despises a vile person
but honors those who fear the Lord;
who keeps an oath even when it hurts,
and does not change their mind;
who lends money to the poor without interest;
who does not accept a bribe against the innocent.”
Holy Scripture warns in Leviticus 19:12:
“Do not swear falsely by my name and so profane the name of your God…”
To truly honor YHWH is more than speaking His name; it is living by it and honoring His name and His commandments. If we truly fear and honor God, our words will carry truth, our promises will be kept, and our lives will reflect His character. Then our lives and relationships will be built on trust, not deception, because truth and faithfulness will no longer be rare, but the standard. The fear of God is not about terror; it is about deep reverence that transforms how we live, speak, and honor His holy name in our lives and relationships.
Do you remember the powerful teaching of Jesus about Lazarus and the rich man in Gospel of Luke 16:19–31?
Men like Abraham and Moses did not live for recognition, wealth, or applause; they lived before God with reverence, obedience, and faithfulness. Their greatness was not built on what they gained, but on what they surrendered. They chose faith over comfort, truth over advantage, and calling over self-promotion.
Yet today, many claim to serve Him, but their pursuits often reveal something different. They gather crowds, seek recognition, and chase wealth while neglecting obedience to God’s word. As it is written in Gospel of Matthew 15:8, “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.”
True devotion is not measured by followers, platforms, or praise, but by a life that humbly submits to God. When a person truly fears Him, their words carry truth, their actions reflect righteousness, and their life becomes a living testimony of His faithfulness.
The relationships and promises in His holy name are eternal, just as His promises are eternal.
