Today, we celebrate more than a date in history. We celebrate the courage that gave us a homeland, the sacrifices that shaped its journey, and the hope that continues to move it forward.

As we raise our flag with pride, may we also remember the responsibility that comes with freedom. To learn, to build, to serve, and to leave behind a Pakistan stronger than the one we inherited.

IEEE UET Lahore wishes every Pakistani a very Happy Independence Day. May our country continue to grow in unity, knowledge, progress, and peace.

Introducing Muhammad Sadeem Hannan, President of IEEE UET Lahore for the 2026–27 tenure. A senior-year electrical engineering student, Sadeem has grown within IEEE, progressing from Co-Chair of the Program Team to Chair of the Industry Applications Society. On campus, he is just as likely to be found in the IEEE office turning ideas into plans as he is in the cafeteria discussing them over chai. Throughout his journey, he has helped bring initiatives to life through technical events, industry visits, career drives, sponsorships, and opportunities that have provided students with meaningful academic and professional exposure.

Beyond IEEE, his work with APIGA Pakistan and NetMission DotAsia reflects his growing commitment to internet governance, digital policy, cybersecurity, and responsible technology. His leadership journey began at Pak-Turk Maarif and continued through UETMUN, where years of public speaking, debate, diplomacy, and team-building taught him how to listen, communicate, and lead with purpose. Away from meetings and event plans, he enjoys getting lost in the worlds of Dostoevsky and Kafka, while Sherlock Holmes continues to feed his love for observation, curiosity, and a good mystery.

For Sadeem, this presidency is more than a position. It is an opportunity to give back to a society that helped shape him, create spaces where students feel welcome and heard, and build a year filled with learning, collaboration, and experiences worth remembering. He steps into this role with gratitude, a head full of ideas, probably a cup of chai nearby, and genuine excitement about everything the IEEE UET Lahore family will achieve together.

Introducing Merab Rauf, General Secretary of IEEE UET Lahore for the 2026–27 tenure. Over the years, Merab has remained an active part of IEEE, taking on roles that allowed her to contribute both creatively and organizationally. She previously served as Co-Head of IEEE Women in Engineering, where she supported initiatives focused on diversity and inclusion in engineering, and later as Head of Documentation, leading content creation and preserving the stories and moments behind society events.

Her journey reflects a genuine interest in leadership, teamwork, community building, and creating opportunities that make students feel involved and valued. Beyond academics and society work, Merab is a devoted animal lover with a particular fondness for cats. Whether she is stopping to care for a stray or instantly distracted by a playful kitten, this softer side of her reflects the warmth, patience, and empathy she brings to the people around her.

As General Secretary, Merab looks forward to strengthening communication, supporting the Executive Council, and helping turn plans into meaningful experiences for the IEEE UET Lahore community. She steps into the role with curiosity, commitment, and the hope of contributing to a tenure remembered for both its progress and its people.
