Pakistan and China are reportedly planning to introduce AI-monitored autonomous mining trucks under CPEC 2.0, marking a potential shift toward high-tech mining and logistics operations in the region. If implemented, the project could become one of the world’s first large-scale deployments of AI-powered autonomous trucks in mining.

The proposed system is expected to involve up to 100 autonomous mining trucks operating in mineral-rich areas near Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan and China’s Xinjiang region. These AI-enabled vehicles would be used to transport minerals more efficiently while being monitored through advanced digital and automation systems.

Supporters of the concept say it reflects the broader global trend of mining automation, similar to advanced projects already seen in countries like Australia, Canada, and the United States, where AI-driven haulage systems are being tested to improve safety, efficiency, and productivity in large mining operations.

Had a productive meeting with High Powered Business Delegation from China led by Mr. Khalil Hashmi, Ambassador of Pakistan to China and Ms. Liu, Vice President & Co-Founder of IBI, at the FPCCI Regional Office Lahore.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. S. M. Tanveer, Patron-in-Chief of United Business Group, Mr. Irfan Muneer, Director Din Industries, Mr. S. M. Nabeel, Chairman ABAD North, and Mr. Zaki Aijaz, President FPCCI Punjab.

We discussed opportunities to strengthen Pakistan-China business relations and explored investment prospects in United Business Park(Special Economic Zone) along with various promising sectors of Pakistan’s economy. The discussion highlighted Pakistan’s growing economic potential, strategic investment opportunities and avenues for long-term collaboration in sectors that contribute truly towards economic growth.
