The air in Islamabad always feels a little magical right before the holidays—crisp, green, and full of anticipation. For me, as a Sri Lankan expat who has called this beautiful city home for the past few years, Eid vacations are always a special time to pause, unwind, and create new memories with my family.
This Eid, we decided to skip the usual city spots and head out to a quiet farmhouse on the outskirts of Islamabad for the day.
The morning started with a drive, watching Margalla Hills fade slightly into the background as we moved toward the countryside. The moment we arrived, it felt like a breath of fresh air. The farmhouse was surrounded by lush green lawns and tall trees that rustled gently in the breeze. For a moment, the vibrant greenery reminded me so much of back home in Sri Lanka, bringing a warm, familiar comfort to my heart.
The kids were ecstatic. As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the fields, we packed up to head back to the city. It truly was a lovely, unforgettable day. 😊

How does a long distance relation work?
After much deliberation I decided to raise kid myself in Pakistan and my husband will be in US. We don’t divorce but we just stay like this as long as we can be until my husband realizes my importance. Currently my mother in law made sure that she has her cousins around my husband so he don’t call or talk to me. She is cutting me as much as possible. Is this a good decision to leave everything to distance and time and see if my husband can step up?

My Master’s degree will be completed this June, and I am planning to pursue a PhD abroad in the field of Botany/ Plant sciences. I am looking for fully funded scholarship opportunities. I have explored a few countries, but I want to apply to universities where IELTS is not compulsory or where there are alternative options available.
If anyone here has experience regarding PhD admissions, scholarships, university selection, supervisor hunting, or the application process, kindly guide me. I would also appreciate tips about
