Introduction to Late Major (R) Faisel Naseer Khan
1. Background
Our Co-Founder, Late Major (R) Faisel Naseer Khan was born in Lahore on 23rd November, 1948. He and both his parents are the descendants of Ibrahim Daanishmundi, who belonged to the Mongolian Empire’s founder, great Genghis Khan (Chinggis Khan)’s family.
2. Introduction to Ibrahim Daanishmundi
Ibrahim Daanishmundi, our ancestor, was nephew of Genghis Khan (Chinggis Khan), and he was a mongol, who converted to Islam after marrying a Muslim lady.
He was given the title Daanishmund, for his unique intelligence. The latter was a Turk descended from the Danishmand Tribe that had formed a part of the Seljuk horde (Ghuz or Oghuz), which moved from Central Asia to establish their rule, in what is now Turkey, in the 11th century AD. (They can still be found living in its central highlands). Later, he became a disciple of Shaikh Shihab-ud-din Suhrawardi in Aleppo, Syria.
When the latter was executed in 1191 AD for doctrinal non-conformity, he made his way east to Sonargaon in Brngal (now Bangladesh) in the early 13th century AD to spread the message of Islam. Shaikh Ibrahim Danishmand's mausoleum still stands in Mograpara on the outskirts of Sonagaon. He and his companions migrated to different parts of the world to spread the message of Islam. Finally, they reached India, Jalander, where they established nine bastis of different types pathans baradari and the bastis were also named after these baradaris. The Bastis were settled on land purchased from a Hindu landlord. The first structure erected was Basti Danishmandan's main mosque, built in 1609 AD. Its dome, demolished by the Sikhs to build a gurdwara in its place, was reputed to be the largest structure of its kind in India. One of our current relative, Mr. Captain Hussan Zia s/o Zia Ullah Khan (Basti Daanish mand), got a DNA tested in the US. Contrary to the belief common among the Pashtoons, it showed no trace of any Semetic (Arab/Jewish) blood whatsoever. However, it did show a strong genetic commonality with people not only in Turkey but also in Tuscany, Hungary, Austria, and small pockets in North China—places where Turks of Central Asia lived in the distant past years!
3. Our Basti (Basti Daanishmundan)
Our for father’s basti was called basti Daanishmundan, named after our tribes ancestor Ibrahimi Daanishmundi.
From there, more than half of the Pathan of each basti migrated to Pakistan during the partition in 1947, and few are still settled in those bastis, namely basti Nau, basti Daanishmundan, basti Guz, basti Baba Khel, basti Shaikh Darwesh, basti Shahkuli, basti Sahab, basti Braham Khel (abandoned under Sikh rule) and one more are mostly the descendants of Ibralim Danishmand.. Even the sujra of our ancestors till mid 80’s was written and published by Late Mr. Adeel Burki, father of Mr. Ayub Khan and followed by Late Mr. Naveed-ud-din Khan. The updated version and more researched one is still under process. 👇🏻
