Oleksandr Tishaiev and Oleksandr Aliksieienko spent 165 days defending one position near Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Under constant shelling and drone attacks, they reported enemy movements, repelled assaults, and held the line when it was not possible to rotate safely.

Even after being wounded, Oleksandr Aliksieienko managed to walk 12 kilometres to the evacuation point – with the help and support of his comrade.

For their extraordinary courage and resilience, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded both defenders the Cross of Combat Merit.

Thank you, Oleksandr and Oleksandr – and all our defenders – for standing firm for Ukraine 🇺🇦

The price of war is huge. Besides destroying human lives, territories and resources, Russia causes devastating damage to the environment – in Ukraine, but also beyond its borders.

According to a 2025 research by the Initiative on GHG accounting of war and CSO 'Ecoaction', greenhouse gas emissions attributable to three years since the full-scale invasion have reached 236 million tonnes of CO2 equivalents. Just imagine, this equals the annual emissions of Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia combined!

No wonder that warfare has become the biggest source of pollution, with the mass use of fighter jets, tanks, and drones. Not to forget landscape fires caused by the ongoing hostilities, intensified attacks on oil depots and oil refineries, disruption of civil aviation, as well as reconstruction of the destroyed infrastructure with carbon-intensive materials…

All in all, the experts estimate climate damage caused by Russia's full-scale invasion at over 43 billion dollars. So today, on the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict, we call on the democratic world to stop Russia from causing more and more damage to our common planet.

We are also very actively preparing the Staff meeting and several other formats today with the military, the Minister of Defense, and the Office team following this week’s trip to the Donetsk and Dnipro regions. There were issues raised by the brigades regarding decisions that, unfortunately, are not fully effective. There was also feedback from battalion commanders regarding weapons supplies and support programs.

We will increase funding for the brigades and corps on the front line that are engaged in the fiercest fighting. Government officials must also expand the military’s ability to purchase necessary equipment, hardware, and components. There are many questions, in particular about write-offs and decommissioning of assets. We must resolve all of these issues. We also discussed in detail the new contract-based framework of service in our army – all of this is being worked through, and there must be clear details for our warriors.

It’s also important to recognize our units and warriors who are doing truly innovative work both in combat and in rescuing the wounded. I am grateful to all our genuinely committed people who are doing absolutely everything possible to defend Ukrainian positions, destroy the invader, and save our wounded.

With the new agreement, the EU opens research and innovation programmes to technologies with dual use of military applications, in which Ukrainian and EEA companies can participate.

Dual-use military applications are products, software or technology that can be used for both civilian and military purposes. For example, civilian drones can be adapted for military logistics, or AI can be used for financial analysis in intelligence operations.

A decisive step towards stronger European defence.

Questioning President Zelenskyy’s Claim About "Pakistani Mercenaries"!

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently claimed that mercenaries from Pakistan (alongside China, Tajikistan, etc.) are fighting against Ukraine alongside Russian forces.

But here’s what’s puzzling:

1. No Evidence in Pakistan – There’s zero verified reporting, social media proof, or even rumors of Pakistanis joining Russia’s war effort. If such a thing were happening, it would be major news here, yet no one has heard of it.

2. Why No Mention of India? – India is Russia’s longtime ally, buys Russian oil despite sanctions, and even abstained from UN votes condemning Russia. Statistically, wouldn’t Indian mercenaries be *more likely* than Pakistanis? Yet they weren’t named.

3. Where’s the Proof? – If Ukraine has captured/killed any Pakistanis on the battlefield, they should show documents, photos, or identities. Otherwise, this is just an unverified accusation.

Serious questions for Ukraine:

- How do they confirm these fighters are Pakistani (not Indian, Nepali, etc.)?
- Is there actual evidence, or is this geopolitical signaling?
- Why hasn’t Pakistan’s government (which stays neutral) been formally notified?

Pakistanis have shown sympathy for Ukraine’s suffering, but accusations without proof only hurt trust. We hope Kyiv clarifies because right now, this claim feels baseless to ordinary Pakistanis.
