Advocate Dr. Khadim H. Dahot, Managing Director of Sewa Development Trust (SDTS) and Member DHRC Khairpur, participated in the fact finding mission along with other committee members to assess the ground realities, meet the victim’s family, and review the institutional response.

As part of the District Human Rights Committee (DHRC) Khairpur, Government of Sindh, a fact-finding mission was conducted in Tando Masti regarding the brutal killing of Mst. Khalida Khatoon alias Rubina, a young woman who lost her life in a tragic case of so-called “honour killing.”

During the visit:
* Meetings were held with police officials and relevant stakeholders
* The victim’s family was visited to express solidarity and understand their concerns
* Key issues related to investigation, protection, and human rights were examined

This case highlights serious concerns regarding:
⚖️ Protection of women’s rights
🕊️ Right to life and dignity
🚫 Violence in the name of honour

Honour killing is a heinous crime, not a tradition. No justification can override the fundamental right to life.

Strengthening Human Rights Mechanisms in Sindh

Advocate Dr. Khadim H. Dahot, Managing Director, Sewa Development Trust Sindh (SDTS) and Member, District Human Rights Committee (DHRC) Khairpur, attended a comprehensive Training Workshop for District Human Rights Committees organized by the Human Rights Department, Government of Sindh on 31st March 2026.

The workshop served as an important platform for capacity building and learning, covering key areas including:
- Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)
- UN Core Human Rights Treaties & Reporting Mechanisms
- GSP+ Framework
- Institutional Role of DHRCs in Sindh
- Pro-women and labour laws

Sewa Development Trust Sindh (SDTS), in collaboration with Accountability Lab, and with the support of DDI South Asia and CIVICUS under the Digital Democracy Initiative (DDI), presents an awareness session titled:

“جھوٹ اور ہراسانی کا خاتمہ کریں | Stop Misinformation and Harassment”

This session is part of the Digital Citizens Lab – Empowering Rural Youth for Inclusive Civic Engagement initiative. It aims to raise awareness among youth about the dangers of misinformation, fake news, and online harassment, and how responsible digital behavior can create safer online communities.

The session encourages young people to become responsible digital citizens who promote truth, respect, and ethical communication in digital spaces.

Key Focus Areas:

• Understanding misinformation and identifying fake news
• Recognizing the harmful impact of online harassment and cyberbullying
• Promoting respectful and responsible digital communication
• Encouraging youth leadership in building safe digital communities

Sewa Development Trust Sindh (SDTS), in collaboration with Accountability Lab, and with the support of DDI South Asia and CIVICUS – World Alliance for Citizen Participation under the Digital Democracy Initiative (DDI), presents an awareness session titled:

“اپنے ملک کا آئین جانیں | Know Your Constitution”

This session is part of the Digital Citizens Lab – Empowering Rural Youth for Inclusive Civic Engagement initiative. It aims to raise awareness among youth about the Constitution of Pakistan, their fundamental rights, and their responsibilities as citizens in a democratic society.

The session encourages young people to understand the importance of constitutional values and actively participate in civic and democratic processes.
