A child experiences their most critical development and early learning from ages 0-5. The language, motor, and socioemotional skills developed during this time significantly impacts their success in school. We recognize that children in high poverty communities do not have the same access to early educational or enrichment experiences and as a result often fall behind in school. Support diversity
in leadership and professional development for the creation and implementation of high quality, proven pre-K early childhood programs that will ensure school readiness for our most vulnerable young learners. Community schools are a strategic collaboration between schools, families, and communities to reduce barriers to student learning and ensure they graduate from high school and are college, career, and life ready. This includes access to quality after school programs, health, mental health, and wellness resources, parent supports, and youth empowerment skills in all neighborhoods and their schools. Support planning and policy development to establish, implement, and sustain full-service community school partnerships in our highest poverty and lowest performing public schools and districts.
