A Preventable Tragedy — ATI Demands Accountability
Earlier today, a heartbreaking, entirely preventable tragedy occurred on University Road when a second-year student was struck and killed by a university point bus, it is just a result of sheer carelessness by the driver.
This is not just an accident. This is negligence — straightly and simply
A young life, full of potential, was taken in seconds because a driver failed to act responsibly. This is not the first time reckless driving by transporters against students is been witnessed, but this time, it cost someone their life.
ATI-UoK as a student organisation and as a community stands together in the parent's grief to this regard.
ATI-UoK demands,
• Immediate suspension and legal action against the driver
• A thorough investigation into the university’s transport system
• Implementation of strict safety regulations for all point buses
• Transparent communication from the university administration
. A good retribution amount should
be paid by Government and by University Administration to victim's parents
This incident shouldn't get brushed under the rug. A student died because safety was not a priority.
We look forward to the fulfilment of our demands, ATI is always at the back of every student as strength as power and as courage.
