It is extremely disappointing to see the newly introduced scholarship policy, where just two absences/leave in a month is considered poor attendence, and can result in complete stoppage of a student’s scholarship of the same month. This is not only inhumane/unreasonable but also reflects a lack of understanding of the realities faced by research students.
Students are already working under intense academic pressure, dealing with experimental failures, mental and physical health issues, and personal challenges. Instead of supporting them, such policies add unnecessary stress and insecurity. Declaring a student “poor in attendance” for just two absences and stopping their entire stipend is simply ridiculous and unjust.
What is even more concerning is that, for a long time, there have been serious concerns among students regarding the transparency and fairness of scholarship related processes within the Academic Coordination Office. Many students have experienced unprofessional behavior, unnecessary hurdles, biasness, and misuse of authority from the same office.
Instead of addressing these longstanding concerns and ensuring accountability, stricter policies are now being imposed on students who are already at the receiving end of these issues.
It is no hidden fact that the ACO persons have granted illegal scholarships to their family members. Instead of taking action against the ACO department that is under the control of Dr. Musharraf, students are being punished for their illegal and corrupt activities.
Granting further control over scholarship processing to the same department, without rebuilding trust and accountability, raises serious questions about fairness and governance of the head of the institute.
We respectfully urge the Director to take action against individuals who are found to be corrupt, and make necessary changes in the system instead of punishing students.
Reconsider this harsh and disproportionate policy, ensure transparency and accountability in administrative processes, and protect students from unnecessary financial and mental stress.
At the end of the day, leadership is not just about enforcing rules, it is about justice, fairness, and responsibility. We hope these principles will guide the decisions moving forward.

On behalf of all the students of HEJ Boys Hostel, we sincerely express our heartfelt gratitude to the Director of International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) and our respected Hostel Incharge, Dr. Dilshad, for graciously visiting the hostel during the blessed month of Ramadan and sharing Iftar dinner with us.

Your presence among the students made us feel valued and truly cared for. It was not only an honor to host you but also a memorable experience for all of us. We are especially thankful that you took the time to patiently listen to the students’ concerns regarding hostel facilities and academic matters. Your willingness to understand our issues and your commitment to finding practical solutions reflect true leadership and dedication.

Such gestures strengthen the bond between administration and students and motivate us to perform better academically and maintain discipline within the hostel.

May Allah reward you for your kindness and grant you continued success in serving the institution and its students.

With sincere respect and gratitude,
Students of HEJ Boys Hostel

Can someone please explain this scam to me? I was told that if I took admission at ICCBS, I would receive 70000 scholarship. What they forgot to mention was that I would be paying 132000 PKR per semester in fees, 6000 or 10000 per month for hostel, 7,000 PKR per month for mess and endless miscellaneous that pop up on and off. So tell me what exactly is this scholarship for? Moral support? (M.phil walon ka Allah Hafiz, I don't understand why you even enrolled)
An average PhD student here is 26–28 years old. In our society, men at this age are expected to support their parents and family, not beg for pocket money. How exactly is someone supposed to support their family and survive a PhD when they are financially strangled? And after sacrificing 4–5 years of their life, they’ll be 32 or 33, mentally destroyed, exhausted, and still unsure whether they’ll even have a future or a job.
Let’s be honest, this system does not just test intelligence, it crushes mental health. The pressure isn’t only academic, it comes from society, family, relatives, friends, and parents who are desperately hoping that one day their son will finally be able to help them. I come from a lower middle class family, and by this age, I am supposed to be a support and not a liability. Instead, I will graduate with a PhD and still be financially irrelevant and unemployable.
I want real answers from current PhD students who are already suffering under this stress: how are you managing this mess? Or are you just surviving quietly?
And to His Excellency, the Director of the Institute: please stop this nonsense obsession with numbers. Forget about stuffing labs and hostels with students like cattle. Just increase the scholarship to the 70000 you announced 10 months ago. If you cannot even pay the 150 already enrolled PhD students, what genius idea was it to enroll 200 more? You promised increment in scholarship, failed to deliver. You all including Prof. Atta mentioning 70000 scholarship everywhere, for the record of the world, till January 2026, ICCBS students have NOT received the increased scholarship they had announced back in April 2025.
If you don’t have money for basic necessities, neither in labs, nor in the hostel, stop recruiting. There have been plenty of complaints related to lack of basic facilities at hostel launched through official channels, yet nothing resolved. Stop collecting students when you can’t support them with their future. Stop producing frustration, anxiety, and broken people. The institute is already drowning in problems created by reckless over admission, students are suffocating due to poor facilities, and yet your only focus is to inflate numbers.
Just stop. Please. We demand basic facilities, not luxuries.

Honestly, I’m glad someone finally brought this up because it’s been happening again and again, and most of us noticed it but stayed quiet. What happened during the last refreshment in the multipurpose hall was embarrassing. People were cutting lines, rushing to the food, pushing others, and piling their plates like everything was about to run out. These are basic manners we were supposed to learn in school, not something we should be reminding PhD students about.

Since an international conference is coming up, this really needs to be taken seriously. We’re hosting guests from more than 30 countries. The least we can do is behave properly so we don’t end up embarrassing the entire institute.

And one thing that absolutely needs to be said:

The buffet system in our institute is setup in a way,

Right side tables: Boys

Left side tables: Girls

Middle table: Only for guests

Yet every single event, some new students walk to the guest table and start taking food. Please, this is not just a small mistake. It looks extremely disrespectful to the guests and makes the whole institute look poorly managed.

A few basic things everyone should keep in mind:

Stand in the queue. No cutting, no excuses.

Stay away from the guest table. It’s not for students.

Take only what you’ll actually eat. Wasting food looks bad on all of us.

The food won’t finish. You can go back as many times as you want.

Don’t take food for your friends. Let them come and wait in the line like everyone else.

Move calmly. No rushing or crowding around the dishes.

None of this is difficult. It’s just basic decency. If we can’t maintain discipline in front of international guests, then what impression are we giving about our institute?

We need to fix this before the conference. Let’s not repeat the same scenes again.

Admin post this.

Mr. Jaffar Askari, I'm really enjoying your screams on the other post.
You have been busy defaming greats in the field of science and technology, disrespecting scholars and professors through disgraceful posters and malicious social media campaigns and when it came back, you couldn't even bear a word for yourself lol.
You’ve stooped so low as to slander female faculty members with shameful accusations.
Clearly, earning a language degree does not guarantee ethics or moral values.
It’s astonishing that someone like you even exists within a prestigious research institute like HEJ.
Since you have no real work, you have made it your mission to malign the institute and its respected faculty, who are busy winning awards, honors, and bringing pride to the country.
Individuals like you, who engage only in politics, blame games, and character assassination, must not only be expelled from HEJ but from the University itself.
There’s no room for such toxicity in a place dedicated to research, innovation, and excellence.
You speak of coming face to face, but have you even earned the honor to stand before respectful people?
You're so toxic that perhaps no one had the courage to tell you before.
Consider yourself lucky that I even bothered to respond, because frankly, engaging with you is not my job, it’s yours.
While we are busy in research, you're busy playing politics in the canteen, even during office hours.
Of course, it makes sense, you have no real work at the institute, just another parasite feeding off the system.
Keep barking from the sidelines if it pleases you; HEJ will continue winning grants, securing research funding, and working for the betterment of humanity.
