🎗️ Breast Cancer Awareness Session | MSS Islamabad

In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Marie Stopes Society (MSS) Islamabad, in collaboration with the Pakistan Institute of Living and Learning (PILL), organized an awareness session for its field staff on 9th October 2026.

The session highlighted the importance of early detection, breast self-examination, mental health support for breast cancer patients, and collective efforts to defeat cancer. Experts Dr. Rafia Toor, Dr. Tayyeba Kiran, and Mr. Adnan Chohan shared valuable insights to strengthen awareness and promote informed health-seeking behaviours.

MSS field staff reaffirmed their commitment to extending these learnings to communities through routine field activities and Mohallah Meetings throughout October.

A Choice for All – Agency, Intention, Access.

On World Contraception Day 2026, Marie Stopes Society - Pakistan (MSS) Islamabad, in collaboration with the District Health Office Islamabad and civil society partners, organized a Free Medical Camp on 26 September 2026 at Chatta Bakhtawar, UC Tarlai, Islamabad.

The camp brought a wide range of essential healthcare services closer to the local community, including family planning, general OPD, diabetes screening, chest X-rays, HCV testing, nutrition services, breast cancer screening, mental health counselling, and vaccination services.

📌 396 OPD patients served
📌 102 Family Planning clients
📌 160 Chest X-rays
📌 157 Diabetes screenings
📌 50 HCV tests
📌 40 Breast cancer & psychological education clients
📌 36 Nutrition clients
📌 13 EPI vaccinations

Among the 102 family planning clients, 33 opted for long-acting reversible contraceptive methods and 69 for short-acting methods, reflecting the importance of informed choice and accessible reproductive health services.

We were also honored by the visit of Dr. Syeda Rashida Batool, District Health Officer Islamabad, and Dr. Shazia Gull, In-Charge EPI, MSU/MHSU, who appreciated the initiative and emphasized the need to continue expanding such integrated healthcare services in underserved communities.

Together, we can help build a future where every individual has the information, services, and freedom to make informed choices about their health and well-being.

Access to contraception is about more than preventing an unintended pregnancy. It can mean staying in school, making decisions about health and family and having the opportunity to pursue personal goals. Yet 257 million women worldwide still lack access to the contraception they want.

This , on World Contraception Day, we’re putting the focus on what access can make possible. Choice is power.
