First Response Initiative of Pakistan

First Response Initiative of Pakistan FRIP saves lives by empowering the general population with the skills and knowledge to act in times of emergency Help us, help you, save lives.

FRIP (First Response Initiative of Pakistan) was founded in 2010 in an effort to save the lives of those inflicted by trauma. Over the years, FRIP has trained hundreds of medical and non-medical personnel simple life-saving techniques, free of cost, that if applied in time, can significantly reduce the burden of trauma, that is especially rampant in Karachi in the form of violence and accidents. Our goals to train the entire population life saving techniques are lofty but not impossible and your support will go a long way. First Response Initiative of Pakistan (FRIP) is a Karachi based group of young doctors, medical students and others with an interest in Trauma, First Response and saving lives. A first responder is the first person at a scene of trauma/injury. In a city like Karachi, the lack of a streamlined system leaves trauma victims at the mercy of the general population in the first few minutes. How first responders react to a situation can make or break the victims chances of survival. By having a population that is apt in first response, we can reduce the burden of trauma by thousands of lives and millions of rupees every year. To make the general population aware of the responsibilities and to teach them appropriate skills to handle emergency situations will significantly reduce the adversity associated with trauma. However, training the entire country or at least Karachi’s population is no minor task and must be done in a systematic, tier by tier, ripple like fashion. Medical students (and not only doctors) have a large role to play as intermediaries.

Seven days. One message we hope you’ll never forget.
We talked about numbers, excuses, families, real stories, and real solutions but it all comes down to one thing: a decision that takes two seconds and could change everything.
This isn’t the end of the conversation. It’s the start of a habit.
Wear it. Every ride. Every time. And tag someone who needs to see this.

No more excuses left.
Too hot? Ventilated helmets exist. Too expensive? A certified one costs less than a tank of petrol. Don’t know how to wear it right? We just showed you.
The barriers you thought were real aren’t. What’s left is just a choice.

FRIP’s Education Department conducted 6 First Response sessions from 7th–10th and 14th–15th August, training 207 students in essential first-aid skills and helping them feel more confident responding to emergencies.

Through these sessions, students learned how to recognise common emergencies, respond appropriately, and provide immediate help when it matters most.

A few days of training, but skills that can stay with them for a lifetime. Because knowing what to do can make all the difference.

“The helmet protected my head from the impact and potentially prevented a much more serious injury.”
This isn’t a hypothetical. It’s a real rider, on a real road, on an ordinary night that almost went very differently.
University Road. No streetlights. An uneven, unfinished patch. A fall no one could have predicted.
The only thing standing between a few scars and something far worse? A helmet.
This is why we started this week. Not to scare you but to make sure your story has a better ending than it could have.
Thank you to the rider who shared this with us.

He wears a helmet because he knows the risk.
But what about the people sitting behind him, his wife, his children. The ones with no protection at all?
This isn’t about blame. It’s about a blind spot most of us don’t even notice, because we’ve seen this scene our whole lives.
One helmet was never meant to protect an entire family.

We’ve all said one of these. Maybe all three.
The truth is, the excuses we make aren’t really about the helmet, they’re about believing it won’t happen to us. But accidents don’t check how careful you are, how far you’re going, or how hot it is outside.
Read the reasons. Then really think about it.
