Karachi Press Club Secretary Shoaib Ahmed, while addressing the seminar, said that global powers and developed nations are responsible for climate change. However, instead of taking responsibility, these global forces are busy blaming developing countries in the Third World for the climatic changes.
Shoaib Ahmed highlighted that the growing industrial and construction revolutions are contributing to environmental changes. He called for a united struggle among Third World countries to address the double standards of global powers. He stressed the need for serious governmental action on this critical issue, advocating for large-scale tree plantation drives to enhance the natural environment and reduce pollution.
Secretary Karachi Press Club pointed out that the recent floods in Pakistan were a direct result of climate change, underscoring the necessity for a collective strategy to tackle this severe challenge. Without such a strategy, the effects of climate change could prove catastrophic for the world.
Additionally, Shoaib Ahmed commended the continuous conducting of training workshops and seminars at the Karachi Press Club aimed at enhancing the professional skills and awareness of journalists. He also praised the efforts of Rabab Ibrahim, Kulsoom Jahan, and Maimoona Siddiqui from GAEN, and Saqib Sagheer, head of the Skills Development Committee, for their contributions.
