PIA Boy Scouts Association

PIA Boy Scouts Association Science + Outing = Scouting There was no permanent place for office or Den for it. Temporary Den shifted from place to place. Nawab Ali shah.

Scouting was introduced in PIA in 1967 as a Rover Crew and it became the Provincial Association of Pakistan Boy Scouts Association in 1971. Initially, it based in T-shape building (demolished) near PIA Dispensary, then shifted to Bachelor Block ’B’, PIA Model School, Market Area and in the last in Bachelor Block ‘A’ in PIA Township. On resumption the office of the Prov. Commissioner, Muhammad Faro

oq Raja seriously realized the necessity of a Provincial Headquarters where activities of PIABSA be properly organized. So he approached the PIA Management for a piece of land in the Township and proposed a vacant plot lying adjacent to Luxury cinema and Bachelor Block for building the Scouts Headquarters thereon. A building plan was drawn up by one of our volunteers. Thereafter the earmarking and demarcation was completed by the PIA Scouts before digging of foundation, and all this handled by PIA Scouts exclusively under technical monitoring as on 25 December 1983. Air vice Marshal Waqar Azim who was MDPIA & Chief Scout of PIABSA laid foundation stone the same date. Quotations/Estimate was invited from outside parties which were in millions. Muhammad Farooq Raja placed this matter in the Council meeting and it was resolved that the entire labor work will be done by the PIA Scouts while Technical side will naturally be covered by the professionals. This was decided that PIA Scouts will work on weekends and on holidays. The walls were erected to roof level and by the time Ramadan begun. No problem, all agreed to fill the roof in a night and under guidance of PC and other leaders. The roof filling started one day after Traveh and finished before Sehri. For some technical work like steel fixing, shuttering, plaster etc. the skilled supervisors were engaged. Some of Scout Leaders who supervised Scouts work were Khawaja Muhammad Arif, Haji Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Azhar, Haji Muhammad Iqbal and many others. A Scout big tent was pitched in front ground for office and watch purposes where Syed Abbas Ali had been present off and on. The material used in this PHQ like doors, windows, grills, lights, fans and other furniture was acquired from PIA Store duly declared obsolete. PIA Scouts voluntarily donated their two days allowance from Hajj Duty for on this project. On 30th September 1986, Justice® Syed Ghous Ali Shah, Chief Minister Sindh, Justice Muhammad Zahoor ul Haq, Chief Commissioner Pakistan Boy Scouts Association and Air Marshal M. Azim Daudpota, Managing Director & Chief Scout of PIA Boy Scouts Association inaugurated this unique Headquarters and named it Ewan-e-Iqbal on the name of our first President Gold Medalist Iqbal Ahmed Khan Late. In 1991 this Headquarters was extended by one stage-platform for scouts performances and activities on various events. On its roof two offices for Admin and Engineering Districts were constructed under the supervision of Mr.
