The meeting of central council of National Reformers Forum was held yesterday at NRF office , Karachi . The forum underlined the need for strengthening agriculture produce organisations to effectively manage operations from planning, sowing to marketing on a collective basis. In view of unsatisfactory
support from government agencies, unity and cooperation of farmers in an organised method is need of the hour. Organised producers organisations in various forms are successfully working in many countries. These producers' organisations can be registered under the Cooperative Societies Act,Social Welfare Organisations Act or any other law useful in particular situations. The forum decided to seek suggestions from relevant experts to promote viable producers organisations in the agriculture sector. It was further decided to form one such organisation in Sangher district as a pilot project.
The NRF welcomed an initiative to energize the Inter-Provincial Coordination Department of Sindh to carry out research on issues to be taken up with Federal Govt, Council of Common Interests and other provinces. The IPC can play the role of a think-tank for the Sindh Government for effectively raising critical issues at the proper forums at proper time.
