Improved incomes among youths and women will significantly improve their living standards and that of the general community. The project will target youths and women from the slum areas of rural region i.e. Most of the youths and women in these areas come from poor background with poor source of income to enable them acquire sustainable formal employment. Due to vulnerability, they generally lack
market driven skills, relevant work experience and consequently unprepared for self-employment. There is generally high level of illiteracy, desperation and other social anti-behaviors which are caused by widespread poverty. The project targets vulnerable youth and women within the slum areas, who are equipped with both technical and entrepreneurial skills by experienced trainers who are already in business. The project aims at contributing to poverty reduction amongst the youth and women with priority given to creating youth and women entrepreneurs which lays a great foundation for growth. The approach reduces dependence rate by improving self-reliance, creates good relation between the them and community members and builds them to become good role models to other who in turn learn and benefit from them. The ultimate goal of the project is promotion of self-employment to the youth and women by utilizing existing community structures and resources so as to enhance participation of local development by multiple stakeholders.
