Vasl Artists ‘ Association presents ‘Bodies That Speak’, Curated by Emaan Mahmud, features artists Alishba Binte Faysal, Farhat Ali, Lariab Ahmad, Maryam Arslan, and Sarah Mir. This exhibition explores how gender, identity, and politics intersect within everyday domestic spaces. Through various mediums, the works reveal how subtle rituals and gestures uphold or challenge power structures like family and state. By examining how culture shapes our bodies, the show questions inherited scripts, transforming the personal into a profound site of resistance, tenderness, and collective redefinition.

Join us on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 4pm-7pm at The Vasl Gallery. The show continues until Friday, May 8, 2026.

“One Cloud Over the Mountain”

In the meadows of Madaklasht, One Cloud Over the Mountain unfolds as a visual tone poem by UK-based visual anthropologist Matty Feurtado, tracing the revival of wool felting through the practice of artist Tahir Zaman.

Amid growing environmental instability in northern Pakistan, wool felt emerges as more than material—it becomes an archive of interdependence. It carries within it shifting ecologies, the fading of indigenous knowledge, and the quiet ways in which craft holds relationships to place.

Watch the full film on 24th March, from 4pm onwards at Vasl Gallery as part of “MUSEUM OF UNSEEN: What the Mountains Hide”, or online at patroon.com/feurtado_

Vasl Artists’ Association | Eid Mubarak

As the moon marks the end of Ramadan, we find ourselves standing in the quiet glow of Chand Raat.

In an era where the world often feels like an overwhelming expanse of shadows, we look toward the light—however small or solitary it may seem. This evening, we share a piece that speaks to that very resilience.

Ahsan Hayat states,
“The moon has been found and the world has finally gone quiet as the neighborhood rests in a deep, expectant silence. From my terrace, I can see a warm light glowing against the dark surroundings, gently marking the arrival of this special night. Everything feels calm and still, capturing that unique peace of Chand Raat as I wait with hope and gentle anticipation for the morning of Eid.”

At Vasl, we believe that art is a bridge to our shared humanity. While the world may feel dark right now, we must continue to hold on to the light: the light of community, the light of empathy, the light of peace & hope, and the light of creative spirit.

We pray this Eid brings lasting peace to our hearts, safety to our communities, and the prosperity of a brighter tomorrow for all.

Vasl Artists’ Association presents, What the Mountains Hide by Tahir Zaman. Fifth iteration of the Museum Series, “Museum Of Unseen”

What the Mountains Hide explores the fragile state of endangered wool-felting traditions in Chitral, tracing their roots in Central Asian nomadic histories and their deep connection to local identity. As environmental change and urban migration disrupt sheep herding in regions like Madaklasht, these practices—and the collective memory they carry—are rapidly fading.

Developed with Vasl’s ‘Museum of the Unseen’, the project combines ethnographic research with material experimentation, where traditional techniques are learned, reinterpreted, and transformed into contemporary wall hangings. These works reflect the tension between preservation and change, using felt as a tactile medium to reveal the unseen cultural and ecological shifts shaping mountain communities today.

The show opens on Tuesday, March 24th,2026 from 4PM - 7 PM at The Vasl Gallery, Clifton.

Show continues until April 3, 2026

Museum Of Unseen is supported by The Triangle Network and HBL.

Vasl Artists' Association presents
The City Witnessed
By Shiza Saqib - Artist in Residence

Shiza’s practice bridges self-inquiry and artistic process, drawing from Sufi literature, meditation, and long distance running to cultivate a rhythm of presence and persistence. During her residency, she approached Karachi as a living organism, observing its layered lives and internal rhythms through movement across the city. These encounters emerge as intricate drawings and embroidery, labour-intensive, meditative works that resist the “cult of speed” and invite viewers into a space of shared introspection and stillness.

The exhibition will continue till Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 10am-3pm at The Vasl Gallery

Shiza Saqib’s practice is a profound exploration of the synergy between self-inquiry and the creative process. Rooted in Sufi literature and her experience as a yoga teacher, her work functions as an extension of daily rituals involving presence and persistence. The cadence of her making is informed by the breath, the stillness of meditation, and the rhythmic endurance of long-distance running.

During her residency, Saqib’s body of work focuses on witnessing Karachi as a living organism. Navigating streets, markets, and intersections, she attunes to the city’s internal rhythms and the coexistence of overlapping lives. Through intricate drawing and embroidery, these observations are translated into layered surfaces reflecting the resilience of Karachi’s people. This laborious, somatic process challenges the “cult of speed,” inviting viewers into a shared space of introspection and internal stillness.

Join us on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 4 PM - 7 PM at The Vasl Gallery, Clifton. The show continues until February 28, 2026.

Vasl Artists’ Association presents,
ASSEMBLAGE OF TIME PAST
Lost Moments and Found Memories

A solo presentation by Saleena Shahid
Curated by Nashmia Haroon

Nashmia Haroon’s curatorial vision highlights how Saleena’s textures mimic the fading nature of the past, capturing a sense of loss regarding architecture and family structures. Together, the curator and artist, ask a vital question: are we merely preserving what remains, or actively reviving what has been lost?
