Burnout in Healthcare: Understanding the Invisible Drivers Behind Exhaustion, Performance Decline, and Emotional Disconnection

The Department of Surgery, CHK, Dow Medical College, and Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) successfully organized an insightful session on “Burnout in Healthcare: Understanding the Invisible Drivers Behind Exhaustion, Performance Decline, and Emotional Disconnection” on 19 June 2026.

The session featured Ms. Bushra Usman, Internationally Board Certified Trainer, Master Coach & Trauma Support Specialist, who shared valuable insights into the underlying causes of burnout in healthcare professionals, its impact on performance and emotional well-being, and the importance of recognizing and addressing workplace stress in healthcare settings.

For those who were unable to attend, the recorded session is now being shared to extend the learning to a wider audience and continue the conversation around mental well-being, resilience, and supportive healthcare environments.

Dow Institute of Nursing & Midwifery organized a free Community Health Camp on 17 June 2026 for the local population of Sachal and Marroara Goth as part of final year BSN students’ Community Health Nursing project.

The camp was conducted under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Tanseer Ahmed, Principal, Dow Institute of Nursing & Midwifery, and was supervised by Ms. Farhana Ali, Course Coordinator.

The purpose of the camp was to promote health awareness, encourage healthy lifestyles, facilitate early identification of health issues, and improve access to basic healthcare services within the community. Various awareness sessions were conducted on substance abuse, mental health, nutrition across the lifespan, hygiene, and first aid. Free screening and consultation services were also provided, including blood pressure, blood glucose, height, weight, BMI assessment, eye screening, dental screening, dietitian consultation, and psychological counselling.

The camp received an encouraging response from community members, who actively participated in the awareness sessions and benefited from the free healthcare services. This initiative provided students with valuable community-based learning experiences while contributing to the well-being of the local population. The event demonstrated the collaborative efforts of faculty and students in addressing community health needs while fostering professional growth and social responsibility among future nurses

DUHS Conducts Interactive Awareness Session on Stress Management and Resilience Building

The Dr. A. Q. Khan Institute of Behavioral Sciences, Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) conducted an interactive awareness session on 8 June 2026 at Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology on the topic “From Stress to Strength: Building Resilience and Developing Practical Coping Skills.”

The session was facilitated by Mr. Suhail Ahmed and Mr. Salim Ullah, Clinical Psychologists at the Dr. A. Q. Khan Institute of Behavioral Sciences, DUHS, who engaged participants in an insightful discussion on stress management, emotional resilience, and practical coping strategies for everyday challenges.

The session aimed to raise awareness about mental well-being, encourage healthy coping mechanisms, and equip participants with tools to better manage stress in academic and personal life.

It is with immense pride that we celebrate Dr. Javeria Rao (P.T.), former Joint Secretary of DUHS Literary and Debating Society, on her remarkable achievement at the Neoteric Summit Model United Nations (MUN) – "Enabling Future Diplomats", held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from June 11th to 14th, 2026, where she proudly represented Pakistan.

Serving as the Delegate of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Dr. Javeria demonstrated exceptional eloquence, composure, and a remarkable command of diplomatic discourse on an international platform.

The Dow Medical College Students’ Council, in collaboration with Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), successfully organized an awareness session on “Research Publication Ethics: Dos & Don’ts” on 20 June 2026 at the MUIN Auditorium, Dow Medical College.

The session was arranged to promote ethical research practices among students and young researchers, while highlighting the importance of integrity, transparency, and responsibility in scientific writing and publication.

Participants gained valuable insights into the key principles of publication ethics, common mistakes to avoid, and best practices for maintaining academic honesty in research.

A vibrant cultural exhibition was organized on June 16, 2026, at the Dow Institute of Nursing & Midwifery (DION&M), Dow University of Health Sciences. The event was held under the supervision of course faculty Mr. Raheem Khan, Lecturer- DION&M, as part of the “Culture, Health & Society” course. Prof. Dr. Tanseer Ahmed, Principal-DION&M, warmly welcomed the esteemed chief guest, Dr. Ashar Afaq, Registrar-DUHS.

Students of BSN Semester VI proudly showcased the rich and diverse cultures of Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and Tharparkar.

The exhibition emphasized the critical link between cultural competence and effective healthcare delivery, echoing the objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.

This initiative highlighted the importance of cultural understanding in creating inclusive, equitable, and patient-centred healthcare systems.
