Our Story
Poverty is rampant in Pakistan. Many poor families are living in the villages located in the outskirts of Karachi and in the interior part of Sind (of which Karachi is the capital), Pakistan. Here, people face not only shortage of food and clothing but also are deprived of basic facilities to enjoy good health and appropriate shelter. They do not have any access to basic education. One of the primary reasons for this state of affairs is lack of appropriate means of earning and basic education.
In 2009, Prof. Dr. Noor Ahmed Shahtaz (a renowned Islamic scholar, a former Director Sheikh Zaid Islamic Center Karachi and member of Islamic Ideology Council Pakistan) has founded Al Noor Educational and Welfare Society Trust with a clear mission to effectively facilitate the disadvantaged men to overcome the above mentioned hard living conditions. Since its birth, Al Noor Educational and Welfare Society Trust is wholly committed to provide the needy and poor Healthy life with Education, Shelter, (self) Employment opportunities.
Prof. Dr. Noor Ahmed Shahtaz – the founder and the chief patron – along with his young but committed team with this Humanitarian task, has successfully improved the living conditions of the needy. Until to date, good amount of houses for the poor have been built in Thatta, Sajawal, Mirpur Khas, Nawab shah and Badeen districts of Sind. Many have been facilitated to run small scale business in order to earn their livings independently but decently. Goats, sheep and hens are also provided (as per requirement) to make their living easy. Educational and vocational training sessions and workshops have been arranged to impart business skills. For basic Education, children are sent to schools. Ladies are also provided sewing and embroidery machines along with some basic business training.
