The meeting on “Empowering Specially Abled Adults Through Skill Development” was held on 23 May 2026 at the head office of Autism Without Borders, Karachi Medical Complex. The meeting was arranged by Autism Without Borders as part of an initiative taken by Roohi Fatima to bring together professionals, organizations, and individuals working for the empowerment of people with special needs. The meeting was attended by Dr. Azra Rafiq, Dr. Rafiq Khannai, Syed Naushad Shaukat, Syed Tanweer Ahmed, Dr. Zahoor, Jahaman Das Rathi, Rizwan Us Salam, Dr. Muzna, Dr. Najeeb, and Kiran Tabassum.💫

The meeting started with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a brief address by Dr. Azra Rafiq, who spoke about the current efforts being made for skill development and vocational training of children and adults with special needs. ✨

During the discussion, professionals shared their experiences and highlighted the major challenges in vocational training, placements, parent guidance, and support systems for individuals with special needs. Different solutions were discussed, including better coordination among organizations, connecting parents with relevant resources, and raising these concerns at the government level. Everyone agreed that adults with special needs deserve equal respect, opportunities, and access to skill development.✨

The meeting concluded after a productive discussion with a shared commitment to continue working together on practical and solution-oriented initiatives. It was also decided that future meetings would involve more organizations and focus on improving vocational training, inclusion, and employment opportunities for individuals with special needs.
