Rabies Free Pakistan

Rabies Free Pakistan Help us help you. Rabies Free Pakistan (RFP) is an initiative of The Indus Hospital & Health Network and Getz Pharma, inaugurated in 2018.

Since 2018, The Indus Hospital along with Getz Pharma has been conducting mass dog vaccination against rabies and sterilization of street dogs to lower their population as a way of eliminating human rabies. RFP is Pakistan’s first, national dog vaccination and sterilization program geared towards the eradication of Rabies from Pakistan by 2030 (Zero by 30) using OIE's One Health Approach, addressi

ng human and animal health collectively. The RFP program follows international standards and WHO-approved protocols to initiate this program in Pakistan. The goal of RFP is not just to eliminate rabies, but also to control the dog population. With the increasing number of rabies deaths in Pakistan, it is imperative to work towards rabies elimination awareness, advocacy, dogs neutering and spaying for dog population control, Animal Birth Control (ABC), and Mass Dog Vaccination (MDV). The RFP team is actively working on all fronts including the advocacy and policy level to ensure that all stakeholders currently involved in dog culling in Pakistan have a paradigm shift towards humane methods of vaccinations and animal birth control (spaying and neutering) to control the spay dog population. Rabies Free Pakistan aims to completely eliminate rabies from the country by 2030, by tackling the root cause of the problem through vaccinating and neutering stray dogs in Pakistan using safe animal birth control methods.
