We are pleased to share the successful completion of a highly impactful workshop on “Advances in Myopia Management in Children,” held at the ZMT Primary Healthcare Network Head Office in Karachi. This event was conducted under the One School at a Time program, a joint initiative of Berkeley Vision and OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation.
This engaging session brought together eye health experts and practitioners from both academia and industry to address the growing challenge of myopia among school-going children. The workshop emphasized innovative and evidence-based approaches to early detection, non-invasive diagnostics, and effective management strategies for pediatric eye health.
Key focus areas included:
· Strengthening school-based screening through strategic partnerships
· Managing strabismus, amblyopia, and low vision among children
· Establishing diagnostic standards in myopia care
· Recognizing early signs of vision problems in children
· Optimizing outcomes in school eye health programs
· Emphasizing child safeguarding in eyecare delivery
Approximately 40 men and women, including senior optometry students and practitioners, attended the workshop. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, certificate distribution, and networking, fostering collaboration among stakeholders dedicated to improving child eye health.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all speakers, participants, and partners—Berkeley Vision, OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation, and especially Optometry Giving Sight—for their generous support and commitment to strengthening child eye health and the education and training of young optometrists.
We also thank Zill-i- E..., director programs, Berkeley Vision, for his valuable support and guidance throughout the project ZMT Primary Healthcare Network, in partnership with Berkeley Vision, is implementing the One School at a Time program in remote and disadvantaged areas of Karachi. This initiative provides much-needed eye care services to 20,000 children in both public and private schools, demonstrating a commitment to building a healthier and brighter future for our children.
