The Climate Action Centre -Karachi (CAC Karachi) has been established in 2023 to work on air quality, re-energization with renewables and electric motorbikes for priority action in the energy transition. Karachi is a deteriorating city which needs a rapid green transition to transform everyday practices. In this transition, green energy and electrification are key in bringing air quality to healthy from hazardous levels.

Zero Waste: From crisis to circular solutions ♻️

During Climate Week Karachi 2026, the Zero Waste: From Crisis to Circular Solutions in Karachi panel brought together policymakers, industry leaders, startups, and sustainability advocates to tackle Karachi’s growing waste challenge.

With the city generating nearly 15,000 tons of waste every day, the discussion focused on practical pathways toward a Zero Waste future — including better waste segregation, reducing landfill dependency, strengthening the circular economy, and integrating the informal sector into sustainable waste management systems.

The session highlighted the importance of collaboration across government, industry, startups, and civil society to drive meaningful and scalable change for Karachi.

🌧️ Drainage & Flooding Discussion – Karachi

On 3rd February 2026, a roundtable meeting was held at the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) office, Karsaz, bringing together Saifuddin Awan, chief engineers from KWSC, experts, and civil society representatives to discuss the growing challenge of urban drainage and flooding in Karachi.

The session focused on improving drainage infrastructure, strengthening institutional roles, addressing coordination gaps, and enhancing preparedness to tackle increasing climate pressures. Participants emphasized the need for strong inter-departmental collaboration to build a more resilient Karachi.
