Doctors and Medical Students Flood Relief Campaign (DSFRC) During the floods of Doctors and Students Emergency Response Tem came into existence as a need of time in 2010 as floods wreaked a havoc across the country.

Doctors & Students Emergency Response Team DSERT (Formerly known as DSRFC) is a non-profit, volunteer run, non government organization, based in Karachi with operations extending into the remote areas of Pakistani province of Sindh. Mission statement:

To visit the disaster affected areas with our team of doctors and provide medical relief to the victims through mobile and stationary medical camp

s. DSERT is a disaster relief campaign run on volunteer basis by doctors and medical students from various institutions to provide relief to the victims by going to the affected areas. Pakistan was facing one of the worst natural disaster in its history. Doctors and medical students from various hospitals colleges around the city gathered under the platform of then known as Doctors and Students Flood Relief Campaign (DSFRC) and set to work. The name was changed to DSERT as the organization aimed not to confined itself to floods only. DSERT aims at collecting funds and providing medical relief as well as basic commodities like food and clothing. The aim is to visit the areas and deliver the personally to the affected people. Our teams of doctors visit these areas and form two camps, stationary and a mobile medical camp. Stationary camp is set near the area rehabilitating large number of people, while mobile medical camp covers the surrounding small camps in the periphery. Achievements:



In the year 2010, DSERT treated 5000 patients from flood affected areas of Sindh, Pakistan. During 2011, DSERT treated 10000 patients. Almost double the amount of patients than the previous year. Free medical help, free medicines and food (to some camps only) was also provided by our team of volunteers. We thank all the volunteers working as the team members and physicians along with the donors for the successful relief efforts.
