The Dawood Foundation The Dawood Foundation (TDF) was established in 1961 to promote and help society through education.

Substantial funds have been contributed for establishing schools and colleges across Pakistan. TDF is now moving to undertake projects that are more content and technology based in its knowledge dissemination. We have also contributed in development of hospitals and dispensaries. Apart from this TDF has made noteworthy contributions in disaster recovery and rehabilitation works as well.

Known affectionately as the Bulbul-e-Pakistan, Nayyara Noor was one of the country’s most accomplished and beloved singers. Born in Assam, India, in 1950, she migrated to Pakistan with her family in the late 1950s and went on to leave an indelible mark on the country’s musical heritage.

From the PTV archives to the silver screen, her voice brought poetry and melody together with remarkable grace. Her unforgettable renditions include Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s Raat Yun Dil Mein Teri for Dhoop Kinarey, Aye Jazba-e-Dil Gar Main Chahoon, and the haunting Kabhi Hum Bhi Khoobsurat Thay. Her repertoire spanned ghazals, film songs and patriotic numbers, making her voice an enduring part of Pakistan’s cultural memory.

Her remarkable contribution to music was recognised with the Nigar Award in 1973 and the Pride of Performance Award in 2006.

Nayyara Noor passed away in Karachi on 20 August 2022, but her voice remains timeless, preserved in recordings, memories and the hearts of those who grew up listening to her.

Today marks her 4th death anniversary.

The Dawood Foundation celebrated Pakistan’s Independence Day with a day filled with celebration, creativity, and national spirit.

The celebrations began with a cake-cutting ceremony, followed by a painting activity where the children of our support staff expressed their creativity through colourful artwork. The programme continued with the hoisting of the national flag, as everyone gathered to mark the significance of the day. The celebrations concluded with a lively karaoke session, where everyone came together to sing, celebrate, and enjoy the spirit of the occasion.

TDF’s Children’s Daycare celebrated Independence Day alongside its 3rd Anniversary with a day full of smiles, creativity, and celebration!

Our little ones celebrated Pakistan with lively mili naghmas, while also getting creative with a fun card-making activity. The celebrations came together with a cake-cutting ceremony, marking three wonderful years of creating a happy, safe, and nurturing space for our children.

Here’s to more years of learning, growing, celebrating, and making memories together!

Known as the Shahenshah-e-Qawwali, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan carried forward a 600-year-old family tradition and transformed qawwali into a global musical phenomenon.

From traditional qawwalis and ghazals to collaborations with international artists, his extraordinary voice crossed borders and introduced generations of listeners to the depth and power of Sufi music.

A recipient of the Pride of Performance, UNESCO Music Prize, and a Grammy nomination, Nusrat also holds a Guinness World Record for the most qawwali recordings.

Twenty-nine years after his passing, his voice continues to live on, keeping the timeless tradition of qawwali alive for generations to come.

TDF’s Children’s Daycare celebrated its 3rd Anniversary with smiles, joy, and a special celebration!

Born in London on the midnight of 14–15 August 1919, Dina Wadia was the only child of Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Ruttie Jinnah.

Known for her striking resemblance to her father, Dina shared his quiet and dignified manner. After her mother’s death, she was cared for by her grandmother, Dinbai Petit, before moving to England with her father in 1930.

At 17, Dina married Neville Wadia, with whom she had two children. Despite living much of her life abroad, she maintained a deep connection with her father and kept his photograph close to her.

Today, we remember her on what would have been her 107th birth anniversary.
