On the occasion of World Thalassemia Day, a dignified awareness event was organized at the Muhammadi Foundation with the aim of raising public awareness about thalassemia and its prevention.

Renowned anchor, senior journalist, and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz recipient Mr.Waseem Badami attended the event as the Chief Guest. Guests of honors included Dr. Dur-e-Naz Jamal, Secretary of Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority, and Salman A. Siddiqui Dy General Manager - Corporate Communications
Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC). Patron-in-Chief of Muhammadi Blood Bank, Ghulam Abbas Badami, also graced the occasion with his special presence.

The managing committee of the foundation warmly welcomed the guests, while the main focus of the event remained awareness, prevention, and effective control of Thalassemia.

Speakers highlighted that the prevention of Beta Thalassemia Major is only possible through awareness and thalassemia screening, helping protect future generations from this disease.

During the ceremony, guests also distributed gifts among the children. The event concluded with the presentation of traditional Ajraks and commemorative shields to the honorable guests.

On the occasion of World Thalassemia Day, a dignified awareness event was organized at Muhammadi Foundation, aimed at raising public awareness about the disease.

Renowned and internationally recognized anchor, senior journalist, and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz recipient, Mr. Waseem Badami, attended the event as the Chief Guest. Guests of Honors included Secretary of Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority, Dr. Dur-e-Naz Jamal, and Dy General Manager - Corporate Communications Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC). Patron-in-Chief of Muhammadi Blood Bank, Mr.Ghulam Abbas Badami, also graced the occasion with his presence.

On the occasion of World Thalassemia Month, observed globally with World Thalassemia Day on 8th May, the team from Martin Dow visited the Thalassemia Center at Muhammadi Blood Bank’s main head office in Karachi and Multan Thalassemia Centre
During their visit, they participated in a cake-cutting ceremony with the children and distributed gifts, making the occasion meaningful and memorable for everyone involved.
We sincerely appreciate and thank the Martin Dow team for their support, for taking this thoughtful initiative, and for helping us highlight the importance of thalassemia awareness and patient care.

We are pleased to share that the Psychosocial Intervention Department at Muhammadi Thalassemia Care Centre, Jacobabad is now fully active and properly functional for children living with beta-thalassemia major.
While small efforts in this area were already ongoing in the past, the department has now been strengthened and organized in a more consistent and structured manner.
At our Jacobabad centre, around 440 children are receiving supportive treatment completely free of cost, fully sponsored by the Government of Sindh Health Department. Monitoring and evaluation is being carried out by the Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority.
Through this initiative, we aim to make the children’s time at the centre more meaningful. Alongside their blood transfusions, they are encouraged to engage in simple activities such as talking, playing, and interacting with others, helping them gradually build confidence and improve their social skills.
We sincerely thank our management for supporting and allowing this initiative to grow, and extend special appreciation to Dr. Sajjda Director ICAN for her guidance and efforts.
We hope this step continues to bring positive change in the lives of our children.
