The University of Child Health Sciences (UCHS), Lahore, marked the International Day of Midwives with infectious enthusiasm, embracing the global theme "One Million More Midwives." The event drew distinguished guests including Ms. Tahira Sagheer (DG Nursing Punjab), Prof. Dr. Junaid Rasheed (Pro Vice Chancellor, UCHS), Ms. Shaheen Kousar (ADG Nursing Punjab), Prof. Dr. Mehwish Deen, and Ms. Asma Abid (Nursing Superintendent, Childrenโ€™s Hospital Lahore).

A pivotal moment came when Dr. Nazia Ilyas, Joint Secretary, Midwifery Association of Pakistan (Punjab), underscored the imperative of augmenting the midwife workforce, ensuring their professional recognition, and providing a secure working environment to achieve transformative maternal and newborn health outcomes in Pakistan. Lahore (May 21, 2026): On the occasion of International Midwifery Day 2026, Fatima Jinnah Medical University, in collaboration with the Government of Punjab and UNFPA, officially launched a 4-Year Midwifery Degree Program.
On this occasion, Dr. Nazia Ilyas, Joint Secretary of the Midwifery Association of Pakistan, appreciated the progress made in the promotion, awareness, and professional development of midwifery through the Associationโ€™s platform, calling it an important milestone.

Sukaina College of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Sciences, Khanpur proudly marked International Day of Midwives 2026, reiterating its dedication to advancing the midwifery profession and elevating the standard of care for mothers and newborns.

Ms. Musarrat Rani, Principal of Sukaina College of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Sciences and First Vice President of the Midwifery Association of Pakistan (MAP), delivered a keynote address, underscoring the profound impact of the ICM 2026 global theme, โ€œOne Million More Midwives.โ€ She stressed the imperative need to prioritize investments in midwives' education, training, and empowerment, ensuring that every woman and newborn receives exceptional, respectful, and evidence-based care. Online Interactive Session on BRIDGE PROGRAM Digital Learning With Support of ICM

On 14 May 2026, Ms. Musarrat Rani, First Vice President of the Midwifery Association of Pakistan, conducted an interactive online session with participants from nursing, midwifery, and other healthcare backgrounds, including student. A total of 23 participants successfully completed the final training session.
Drawing on her experiences from the BRIDGE Digital Program, Ms. Rani shared her learning from BRIDGE PROGRAM and emphasized the importance of digital learning, leadership, mentorship, evidence-based practice, association visibility, and continuous professional development. She encouraged participants to embrace innovation, strengthen healthcare quality, and contribute actively to the future of nursing and midwifery in Pakistan.
The BRIDGE Program, implemented by the Midwifery Association of Pakistan with support from the International Confederation of Midwives, continues to create meaningful opportunities for learning, professional growth, and digital engagement among healthcare professionals.

PTCL has launched , Pakistanโ€™s first telecom-led postpartum mental health initiative in partnership with Oladoc.

Through the UPTCL app, mothers can now access free consultations with certified psychiatrists from anywhere in Pakistan.

The campaign aims to raise awareness about postpartum depression and provide real support to mothers who often suffer in silence. ๐Ÿ’™
