Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir
Defence Residents Social Welfare Association (DRSWA) organized a Declamation Contest on Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir with a view to remind our youth and other diaspora about the draconian act of Indian Govt. to repeal Article 370 of its constitution which ended the autonomous status of Kashmir and Jammu.
The event also shed light on the plight of IIOK citizens who are still being deprived of their basic rights.The closure of communication channels, brutal beating/killing of peaceful protesters, molestation of women, restrict access to free movement etc.
Event was held at the Pakistan Tanners Association Hall and was attended by distinguished members of the Business Community, Civil Society members and other prominent personalities. Among the notable guests were Mr. Danish Aman , Chairman, PTA South Zone; Mr. Taimur Siddique , Director, Shahi Group; Mr. Umair Chottani , Director, Rahbar Group; Mr. Zafer Malik, COO, Shahid Afridi Foundation; Mr. Asif Shaikh Jawaid, Former Vice President, Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI); and many other highly respected dignitaries.
The Youth speakers who represented different colleges & universities of Karachi came well prepared and their deliberations reflected that their speeches coming straight from the heart. Apart from the abovementioned atrocities, they paid Special emphasis on the importance of the relevant United Nations resolutions on the Kashmir dispute through transparent plebiscite under International supervision.
The Chief Guest and Chief Judge of the competition was respected DIG Faizullah Khorejo, PSP. Other distinguished guests, part of judging panel, included Dr. Abid DrAbid Shaikh , COO & Co-Founder, Rescue 1122; Commodore (Retd.) Shahab Qamar ; and Mr. Mohammad Najeeb Wali, Vice President, Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC).
The competition provided an ideal platform for participants to have intellectually engaged discussions.
Cash prizes and commemorative shields were presented to the winning contestants in recognition of their outstanding performances. Shields of appreciation were also presented to the Chief Guest, judges, and distinguished guests in acknowledgment of their valuable participation for a noble cause.
